Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 5/15/2025 - May We Look For Ways to Comfort Others

Our saint this week is St. Catherine of Siena, one of the patron saints of nurses. St. Catherine spent much of her life visiting hospitals and helping to care for the sick. I reminded the students this week, as we talked about St. Catherine, that we all can make an effort to show care for those around us. As parents, we care for our children when they get sick. We do our best to comfort them and minimize their pain. As we follow the example of St. Catherine of Siena, may we look for ways to comfort others in our life who may be ill or struggling in body or spirit.

Thank you!

On Monday we had our 4th Annual ASCA Golf Classic! It was a beautiful day and a great fundraiser for the school. Thank you to John Corradetti, Wayne Klein, Katy Maurer, Carolina Zavala, and our entire committee of volunteers for planning such a fantastic event. Thank you as well to all who attended or supported the outing in some capacity. We are so grateful for you!

Spring I-Ready Scores

Spring I-Ready testing is complete, and paper copies of your child’s scores will be coming home by the end of the week. This round, you may also view your child’s I-ready scores online by logging into their student account. Click here for more information on how to access the scores from your child’s account. If you need your child’s login information, please contact your homeroom teacher.

I-Ready MyPath (the personalized instruction component) will be available to students throughout most of the summer, until July 21st. At that time i-Ready accounts will be disabled to prepare rosters for the new school year. Your child’s teacher will contact you if i-Ready is required for the summer. For grades where it is not required, it is still a great optional resource to keep skills fresh over the summer break!

End of Year Reminders

As we approach the end of the year, I know students (and teachers!) are anxious for summer vacation. During these last two weeks, please remind your children that we are continuing to learn, try our best, and most importantly, treat everyone with respect. Following the rules and expectations helps ensure we can all finish the year in a positive way!

These last ten days are quite busy! Tomorrow is our 2nd grade First Communion Mass. Please consider joining us at 8:15am as we celebrate our most recent First Communicants. We will also honor our 8th graders tomorrow afternoon at our 8th grade Awards Ceremony.

Next week is busy with events for our soon-to-be graduates. Please keep the 8th grade class in your prayers as we travel to downtown Chicago on Tuesday for Bueller Day, celebrate their last school day together Wednesday with the Baccalaureate Mass, graduation breakfast, and yearbook signing party, and then send them off as graduates with our Mass and Commencement Ceremony on Thursday evening. We look forward to a week celebrating the Class of 2025!

Our preschool and kindergarten students will also celebrate their last day of school on Friday, May 23rd. Preschool and Kindergarten families, consider joining us for Mass that morning, your child’s last school Mass of the year!

In next week’s Saints Speak I’ll highlight what to expect for the week of May 26th, our last week of school for our 1st-7th grade students.

Principal for the Day

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of being joined by 3rd grader Isla, who served as Principal for the Day. She did a fantastic job leading our morning prayer and announcements, supervising lunch and recess, visiting classrooms to check on her students and teachers, and much more. It was a great day; I’ve attached a couple pictures of Isla at work!
