Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 2/5/2026 - We Too Can Be Kind and Gentle
Our saint this week is St. Josephine Bahkita, and our holy habit is gentleness. As a slave, St. Josephine experienced incredible injustices and was repeatedly treated harshly. Despite this, she remained kind and gentle. She is a reminder to all of us that we, too, can be kind and gentle regardless of how others act toward us.
As you talk to your children about kindness, here is a resource that may be helpful as you teach them how to see the viewpoints of others and show kindness and empathy in a variety of situations.
February Masses
I made a mistake in my email earlier this week regarding February Masses. We do have Mass tomorrow, but our second Mass this month will be on Ash Wednesday, February 18th. This will replace the typical Friday Mass that week. All are welcome to join us for Ash Wednesday as we begin the Lenten season together. Click here to RSVP for Mass.
Arrival Reminders
We are seeing more and more cars waiting for Door 1 in the morning, blocking the driveway and causing traffic to unsafely back up onto Aurora Ave. Please, please use both doors at arrival so we can avoid this and keep ALL of our families safe during arrival!
Valentine’s Day Celebrations
Since there is no school next Friday, we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day early this year. Mrs. Greco’s PK class will have their class party on Wednesday, February 11th. All other classes will celebrate on Thursday, February 12th. Preschool-5th grade students will have class parties, and our junior high students will take their annual field trip to Lucky Strike (formerly Bowlero) for an afternoon of bowling and games. Students may wear Valentines colors and out of uniform bottoms if they choose.
Students are welcome to bring in Valentine cards for their classmates as well. If your child will be handing out Valentines, please make sure they have one for each student in the homeroom and that no food items are distributed. Thank you!
ASPA Event: Social Media, Screen Time, & Youth Mental Health
ASPA invites parents to attend a panel discussion on Social Media, Screen Time, and Youth Mental Health. This event is open to ASCA parents as well as the local community and will be held Thursday, March 5, from 6:00-7:30pm in McSherry Hall.
As students navigate an increasingly digital world, families and schools are facing important questions about healthy screen use, social media influences, and their impact on children’s mental and emotional well-being. This panel discussion will offer expert perspectives, practical strategies, and guidance to help parents support their children in developing balanced, healthy habits with technology.
The evening will include time for discussion and questions, encouraging thoughtful conversation and shared learning within our school and broader community. Please RSVP: https://form.jotform.com/260214901106140
Athletics
Tomorrow is Blue Out! Games are at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm, and all ASCA families are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Saints! Students who attend will receive an Out of Uniform pass, too!
As a reminder, when you attend Blue Out, we expect you to be in the gym, cheering on our teams in a positive way. Parents, please stay to supervise your child(ren) throughout the games.
