Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 1/8/2026 - Leading By Example and the Power of Prayer
Welcome back!
I hope your family had a wonderful Christmas break. Our saint this week is St. Monica, and the students are learning about the holy habit of devotion. Monica spent much of her life praying for her husband to convert to Christianity and for her son Augustine to return to the Church. Eventually Augustine turned away from his sinful ways and became a saint himself!
As parents, I’m sure we can all relate to St. Monica; we pray for the safety, wellbeing, and happiness of our children probably more than anything else. We want to help them, take away their pain, and bring them closer to God, but also realize there are many things they have to do themselves. St. Monica is a reminder of the power of prayer and leading by example as we guide our children.
Academic Updates
We are almost at the halfway point of the second trimester! Next Friday, progress reports will be sent home for Kindergarten-3rd grade students, and eligibility checks will begin for 5th-8th grade students involved in athletics and extracurricular activities. Please use this time as a reminder to get in any missing work and start 2026 with good academic habits!
Students will complete their second round of i-ready testing in reading and math next week. There is nothing you can do to study or prepare at home for these assessments. Please just make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast each morning, has a charged device and working headphones each day, and comes to school ready to do his/her best.
Lastly, as we begin 2026, this is a great time to focus on organization! If this is something your child finds challenging, click here for some tips that might help you support him/her at home.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
On Monday, January 19th, there is no school in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is our tradition at ASCA to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by performing acts of service. Thank you to our Outreach team for organizing two ASCA-led service events – card-making in the ASCA Cafeteria for the St. Elizabeth Seton card ministry, and Feed My Starving Children. Families may take advantage of one of the ASCA-led events or may pursue an act of service on their own. While serving in the home is important for each of us to do regularly, we encourage you to consider an opportunity outside your home if possible for this special day, as it helps even our youngest students understand their role in the world and how they can serve others in both small and big ways. Click here for the MLK Day of Service reflection sheet to be completed by all students following their act of service. Teachers will distribute paper copies of these forms to your students next week as well.
Science Fair Judges Needed
Our 7th graders will be participating in Science Fair during the morning on Thursday, January 22nd. Please consider being a judge! No science background is necessary. Click here to sign up!
Catholic Schools Week
From January 25-January 31, we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week! The week is full of themed days and fun events to celebrate all that makes our school special. The full calendar will be shared in next week’s Saints Speak, but a few early reminders are below.
Today is the last day to get your CSW shirt. Click here to place your order.
Each January, we strive to have a strong presence at our supporting parishes in preparation for Catholic Schools Week. We will have Family Masses at St. Elizabeth Seton, St. Margaret Mary, St. Thomas, and Our Lady of Mercy on Sunday, January 18th, and at Holy Spirit on Sunday, January 25th, and will have ASCA representatives speaking at the Masses in support of our school. Sr. Maria will be reaching out to the ASCA families at these parishes to share details on the Family Masses and get ministerial volunteers. Please wear your ASCA uniform or spirit wear to Mass those weekends, and send a picture to Mrs. Booker to earn an Out of Uniform Pass!
Our Catholic Schools Week Open House will be held on Sunday, January 25th, from 1-3pm. If you have a friend, relative, or neighbor considering Catholic education for the future, please invite them to attend our Open House. Walk-ins are welcome, or they may click here to sign up for a personalized tour.
Re-Enrollment for 2026-2027
The $250 nonrefundable re-enrollment fee will be charged to all FACTS accounts tomorrow, unless your child is graduating or you have already informed us that you are not returning. The fee is due Monday, January 19th. Please log in to your FACTS account before then to make a payment or confirm that your incidentals are on autopay.
Scholarship Opportunity & Financial Assistance Reminder
This past fall, former All Saints teacher Mrs. Christina Corbett passed away. Mrs. Corbett was part of the original ASCA faculty and touched the lives of many during her tenure as a 1st grade teacher here. Her family and friends have generously partnered with All Saints to create a scholarship honoring her memory. Please click here for more information.
Additionally, if you are in need of financial assistance for the 26-27 school year, now is the time to apply. Please complete your application through FACTS no later than April 1st to be eligible for assistance from the school, your parish, and/or the Catholic Education Foundation. Please contact Mrs. Bajek with any questions about financial aid.
