Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 12/3/2020 - Be the Light
Today, Mr. Lindgren, our PE teacher, dressed up in our school uniform, proudly wearing the plaid. He is such a good sport! It was priceless to see our students’ faces as they saw him this morning. This ASCA Turkey Tango incentive was realized because of YOUR generous support of All Saints and needed technology enhancements. Thank you for your endless support, which has taken on so many different faces in this atypical school year. You have partnered with us in adherence to our safety protocols that have allowed us to successfully complete nearly 40% of this school year with 5 day continuous in person instruction. You bless us each day with our students, who come to school ready and eager to learn. In a year where we can't welcome parents into the building like we usually would, you are showing up in other ways to make our ASCA community stronger!
Our school mission is something that we collectively recite each morning: The mission of All Saints Catholic Academy is to develop future leaders who are formed by academic excellence, service to others, and respect for all in a Christ-centered community. Together, we all are invested in this mission.
Next week, you are going to receive some mail from ASCA in the form of our Annual Fund Appeal letter. Each year, the Annual Fund Appeal helps us to make and keep Catholic education affordable to all families in our community. The tuition that you pay each month is only one piece of what it takes to ensure that our students are receiving the excellent education in a safe environment that they need. Our surrounding public school districts are spending considerably more dollars per pupil than our tuition cost, with NCUSD203 spending 167% more per pupil, and IPSD204 spending 117% more per pupil. Your contribution to the appeal ensures the continued excellence of All Saints and helps us to fund various school needs, including academic enhancements, faculty development, classroom technology, supplies and equipment, and operating expenses. Every dollar raised is used to enrich the lives of our students in their pursuit of academic and spiritual development, so that they may be the future Catholic leaders that our world so greatly needs.
We know, and have shown, that together we can accomplish great things. I hope that you will join me in supporting this year's appeal. Each contribution to the Annual Fund Appeal, no matter how great or small, is affirmation of your belief in our mission. For that, we thank you!
Our days have become darker lately. The sun now goes down earlier, and the pandemic has made life “dark” in some ways. But LIGHT IS ON THE WAY! The season of Advent began this past weekend, and as we light our Advent candles, we remember that in our Catholic faith, this is the season of hope and light! Jesus wants each of us to be a bright light in the world and in our communities.
Our students will soon be bringing home a decorated picture of a candle, as well as a tea light. Hang the picture in your window, and attach the tea light to illuminate the candle. Be the Light in your neighborhood this Advent season!
We are also striving to Be the Light for those in need this season by collecting items for Hesed House, a homeless shelter based in Aurora. They serve over 1,000 individuals each year, including at least 200 children. The mission of Hesed House is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and give people the chance to hope again. By giving what we can, we are truly living the Corporal Works of Mercy. There will be collection bins at Doors 1 and 7 through Friday, December 18. Consider contributing an item or two from this flyer. Thank you in advance for your willingness to Be the Light!
While August 2021 may sound far away, we are already beginning to look ahead and plan for next school year! Look for an email coming tomorrow from Mrs. Bajek regarding enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year. This email will explain the re-enrollment process in detail so all families know what to expect.
Many students have been coming to school lately without water bottles for the day. As a reminder, our water fountains are turned off as a precaution during COVID. Please make sure your child comes to school with a full water bottle each day to use throughout the school day.

Lastly, thank you to our students who have performed Saintly Acts recently: Michael B. (2nd grade), Matthew H. (7th grade), Eain Sawko (3rd grade), Luna T. (3rd grade), Katie H. (3rd grade), and Mr. Lindgren (staff). Keep it up, Saints!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
