Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 3/20/2025 - Listen for the Voice of God
Our saint this week is St. Margaret Mary, the namesake of one of our supporting parishes! St. Margaret Mary lived in France in the 17th century. She had a deep love for the Blessed Sacrament. Unlike most children, she enjoyed sitting in silence and in prayer. Many of us, both children and adults, struggle with silence. We find our minds wandering, and it can be uncomfortable. At school we have been working to incorporate more silence, taking time before Mass begins to sit quietly and listen to the voice of Jesus. I encourage you to spend some time in silence today. Listen for the voice of God to speak to you in your heart.
DDA Update
Thank you again for your incredible generosity in support of this year’s DDA. While the financials from the event are still being finalized, I am so excited to share that we raised $167,460 for teacher salary enhancements!! These funds will help us support our teachers with a just wage next year and into the future. The faculty and I are so grateful for your support and blessed to be part of this amazing community!
If you contributed to the Fund-A-Need, we encourage you to check with your employer to see if they will match your donation. Many companies have matching programs that can increase the impact of your contribution and further benefit our school. If you need help with paperwork, please contact me and I can connect you with our Fundraising Committee, who is happy to assist!
Reading Fun
This is the last week of the Kane County Cougars Reading Challenge. We hope to have many students and families complete their reading challenge to earn a free Cougars ticket and join us for the game in May. If you need another copy of the forms, click here. Turn in your completed tracking sheets to school to earn your free Cougars ticket; ASCA families will be going to the game together on May 18th!
When we get back from Spring Break, it’s Book Fair time! We have two exciting reading events that week to complement our Book Fair as well. On Wednesday, April 9th, we will host Literacy Night from 5:30-7:00pm. ASCA families are invited to school to shop the Book Fair and participate in various literacy activities throughout the building for the chance to earn an Out of Uniform Pass (or prize for our preschool students). We hope to see you there!
On Wednesday, April 9th, we will have author/illustrator Laura Smetana visiting school and presenting to our Kindergarten-5th grade students! Use this form to order autographed copies of her books in preparation for the visit!
