Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 10/28/2021 - All Saints' Day
We have had such an exciting week here at All Saints! Last Friday’s Boosterthon Run with the Saints was a huge success. We collected over $60,000 in pledges, and the students had a blast running their laps, dancing, and celebrating! Events like Boosterthon allow us to provide an excellent school experience for our students while keeping tuition affordable. Thank you to all who contributed to this fantastic day through pledges and volunteering. Thanks especially to Amy Bono, who helped organize the day, distribute prizes over the last two weeks, and keep everything running smoothly.
The students have enjoyed dressing up throughout the week for our daily Red Ribbon Week themes. Students have engaged in daily bullying prevention lessons in their classrooms. We have also included bullying prevention in our morning announcements each day. Click here to view the daily announcements from the week, or ask your child about the lessons in their classroom.
Tomorrow is our Halloween celebration! Please check last week’s Saints Speak if you have questions about costumes and dress code. In summary, PK-2nd grade may wear their costumes to school, 3rd-5th grade should come in uniform and bring their costumes to change after lunch, and 6th-8th grade will be in uniform all day. We were hoping to have a Costume Parade on the recess pad at 2pm, but it doesn’t look like the weather will cooperate. We have decided to cancel the costume parade. If the weather turns around, we will email all families by 1pm tomorrow to let you know that the costume parade is back on. The good news is that Saturday’s weather for Trunk or Treat looks great, so we hope to see you there!
The celebration will continue on Monday, November 1st, our Feast Day! The saints serve as models for us, showing us how we can demonstrate love for God and others in our daily actions. We are all called to be saints! The day will begin with our school mass at 8:15am. Fr. James Guarascio will preside, and our 4th graders will lead the mass. We will then launch our first All Saints Catholic Academy Day of Giving! The day will be a celebration of our wonderful school, so check our social media throughout the day to join in the party. There will be challenges and prizes, photos, and opportunities to walk down memory lane. We hope you’ll connect with us throughout the day as we celebrate All Saints!
1st quarter Report Cards will be sent home with all students tomorrow. In addition to your child’s report card, you will find copies of their fall standardized test results and benchmark assessments (MAP tests for K-1; MAP, IOWA, and CogAT for 2-8). The report card and test results are your copies to keep; please sign the envelope and return to school on Monday. As a reminder, MAP tests will be given three times this year (Fall, Winter, and Spring) in Math and Reading. We spent part of our October professional development days looking at trends in class data and how we can best support individual student growth. After the winter test you will receive another report showing your child’s progress. IOWA and CogAT assessments are taken each September. We are still waiting to receive data on the Diocesan averages, and will share that information when it is available. We will be using our next early release day (December 1st) to take a deeper dive into the IOWA data as well.
If you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences, scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 4th. Sign-ups can be found in SchoolSpeak, in Quick Links under your child’s grade level menu on the left side. You may need to scroll a bit to see this option. Sign-ups close at the end of the day Monday, 11/1, so be sure to sign up over the weekend!
Lastly, I’d like to recognize our students who received Saintly Acts this morning. Congratulations and thank you to Ziva W. (4th grade), Tyler T. (3rd grade), Jonathan T. (3rd grade), Ella D. (6th grade), Danny P. (5th grade), Leyla W. (1st grade), Julian C. (8th grade), Camden K. (Kdg), Alex W. (7th grade), Hannia G. (2nd grade), Cody G. (6th grade), Brandon F. (6th grade), Gio Q.
