Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 10/21/2021 - Run With the Saints

Tomorrow is the day – our Boosterthon Run with the Saints! We hope many of you will join us to cheer on the students as they run. We are so proud of our students for already surpassing our goal of $35,000 in pledges, with current pledges totaling over $48,000! THANK YOU for your generous support of our school and this event. The students have earned many rewards and incentives, including a school wide movie & popcorn afternoon. We have run out of a few of the prizes and will be getting more tomorrow, so please don't panic if your child doesn't come home with all their prizes today. There is still a fierce competition among classes to see who will get to duct tape me to the wall…stay tuned for final pledge counts!

Here are some important details for tomorrow:

Students may wear spirit wear shirts and out of uniform bottoms for school tomorrow. We will still have mass but perfect uniform is not required. The run is outside, so make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Students will receive their Boosterthon t-shirts at school tomorrow, to be worn over their clothes/sweatshirts/coats for easy lap counting on the back of the shirt.
All students should bring a full water bottle, labeled with their name, to school tomorrow to be used during the Run.

Spectators are welcome! Come to the recess pad to cheer on your children throughout the Run. We ask all afternoon spectators and volunteers to park in the northeast lot (near Doors 9 and 10) to avoid getting parked in by the car lines.

Run times are as follows, with each group running for approximately 35 minutes.

  • 9:15 – PK & K
  • 10:15 – 5th & 6th
  • 12:10 – 1st & 2nd
  • 1:10 – 3rd & 4th
  • 2:10 – 7th & 8th

We are looking forward to a great Run with the Saints tomorrow!

Red Ribbon Week

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and next week we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. The campaign unites communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. During Red Ribbon Week, classroom lessons will be presented to students on types of bullying, what to do in bullying situations, how to report bullying, developing good character traits and making good choices. There will also be themes throughout the week.

Red Ribbon Week Themes :

  • Monday, 10/25– Proud to be Bully Free…Wear Red for Red Ribbon Week (red shirts with uniform bottoms)
  • Tuesday, 10/26 – Team Up Against Bullying…Wear your favorite sports t-shirt/jersey (with uniform bottoms)
  • Wednesday, 10/27 – Too Bright to Bully…Wear neon colors (non-uniform bottoms are OK today)
  • Thursday, 10/28 – I am a Jean-ius, I am Bully Free…wear jeans (uniform top or spirit wear top)
  • Friday (Mass), 10/29 – We are united against bullying…wear school uniforms and Boo-llies Don’t Scare Us…dress in your costume (PS3-2nd Grade may wear costumes to school; 3rd-5th Grade will change in afternoon)

There will also be a Door Decorating Contest and daily morning announcements through the week.

Red Ribbon Week will conclude with Halloween celebrations on Friday, October 29th! Join us for a Costume Parade at 2pm on the Recess Pad, weather permitting! Please see more details for each Academy below.

  • Preschool: Students may come to school in their costumes. Class parties will be at 10am.
  • Primary Academy (K-2): Students may come to school in their costumes. Class parties will be at 2:15pm.
  • Intermediate Academy (3-5): Students may bring their costumes to school and will be given time to change after recess. Class parties will be at 2:15pm.
  • Junior High Academy (6-8): Students will watch a movie in place of a class party. Costumes will not be worn in junior high.
  • For all grade levels, costumes must be appropriate for school. Costumes should be comfortable enough that students can easily sit at a desk and use the bathroom; no weapons, makeup, or masks that cover their eyes. We will not allow students to pass out candy to one another at school due to allergies. We encourage families to participate in Saturday’s Trunk or Treat (10/30, 10:30am-12:30pm) and distribute candy there!

Tomorrow is the end of the 1st quarter. Report cards will be distributed next Friday, 10/29. If you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences, taking place on Thursday, November 4th. Sign-ups can be found in SchoolSpeak, in Quick Links under your child’s grade level menu on the left side. You may need to scroll a bit to see this option.

Congratulations and best wishes to Kindergarten teacher Ms. DiFalco, who is getting married tomorrow! We are very excited for the soon-to-be Mrs. Brusa!
