Saints Speak from the Principal - 2/11/2021 - Winter Wonderland

Dear Parents,

Well, another Winter Wonderland “Snow Globe” is with us with a light snow this afternoon.  It is getting to be almost a daily thing that snow falls from the sky!  Please remember to help your child be prepared for the weather.  The cold seems to be here for a while.

We still see students coming to school with no coat, no gloves or hats.  The car pool lines are moving pretty well, but we still see students on their phones or otherwise distracted so they do not hear their name called.  Please remind them to dress warmly and stay attentive. We all need to work together to keep everyone safe!

Half-day Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Friday is a half-day of school.  Preschool students will be released at 11:00 am, and Grs. K- 8 will be released at 11:30 am.  Students will not eat lunch in school. The teachers will have an in-service in the afternoon.

Presidents’ Day

There is no school on Monday, Feb. 15 in celebration of Presidents’ Day.   If you are traveling and seeing people outside of your current “pod”, please be very aware of all safety protocols. When you return, please be extra vigilant in monitoring yourself and your child/ren for any possible sign of illness (fever, runny nose, cough, upset stomach, sore throat, fatigue, body aches, etc).  If you see anything unusual, please keep your child home and seek medical attention.

Ash Wednesday

Lent begins next Wednesday,  Feb. 17.  The students will be attending an Ash Wednesday Prayer Service either in the gym or virtually in their classrooms.  This begins our 40 day journey to Holy Week. Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and alms giving.  Each student will be making a Lenten Offering.  This is a personal promise to God of what they are going to do or give up for Lent to be offered during the Prayer Service (not a monetary donation).

The ASCA Catholic Identity and Diversity Committee has prepared some information about Lent and a list of opportunities for you to receive ashes at your own parishes.  The Catholic Identity Committee works to help facilitate communication between ASCA and the supporting parishes. Enjoy your long weekend!

God Bless,

Mrs. Cyndi Collins
