Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 9/18/2025 - Return to the Lord in Times of Difficulty

This week’s saint is St. Peter, as we continue talking about the holy habit of faithfulness. His faith was so strong that Jesus changed his name from Simon to Peter, which means “rock,” and then entrusted him to be the rock upon which our Church was built. Even with his incredible faith, Peter denied Jesus three times. We all have moments where we deny our faith or have doubts. We face difficulty or hardship, and we question the Lord's plan for us. Even in these difficult moments, may we be like Peter, and return to our Lord.

Fun Run

Our Fun Run is off to a great start! In less than 24 hours, we already raised nearly $18,000 and are almost 30% of the way to our goal. Way to go, Saints!! Congratulations especially to Mrs. Kozar’s class, who earned an extra recess for having every single student turn in their checklists today!

We’ll continue to distribute prizes daily. If you think your child should have gotten a prize and they didn't, please wait a day before reaching out; it's likely that they reached the next prize level after we ran the daily report so the prize will be coming the next day. If you forgot to turn the checklist in today, that’s okay – you can turn it in any time this week or next and your child will still earn a Hershey bar.

Tonight’s challenge is a class challenge…the class with the most money donated by the start of school tomorrow will earn popsicles! Click here to contribute today, or share the link with friends and family. Thank you for your support!

Trivia Night - Last Call!!

Trivia Night is next Friday and you don’t want to miss out! Tomorrow is the last day to sign up. Click here to reserve your table today and join us for this fun parents night out!

I-Ready & CogAT Reports

Homeroom teachers will be sending home reports from the first i-Ready diagnostic assessment (K-8) and from the CogAT assessment (3-8) today. For the i-Ready assessments, you will get two reports – one for reading and one for math. The report will show your child’s scale score (we look for this score to grow throughout the year), the grade level equivalent overall and in each domain, as well as a national norm. The national norm percentile tells you how your child did compared to other students at their grade level nationwide. For example, if your child scores at the 70th percentile, this means he/she performed better than 70% of students at this grade level throughout the country. 50th percentile is average.

Like any other test, this is a snapshot of your child’s learning and is used to inform instruction, along with other data gathered in the classroom. The back of the report has more information on next steps for your child in each domain, which can be used both at home and at school to support further learning. Teachers spent time reviewing the reports yesterday afternoon and will continue to do so throughout the year. The report also helps place the students on their MyPath, the personalized instruction component of i-Ready. Conferences are a great time to discuss these reports, along with in-class performance, with your child’s teacher.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 9th, with daytime and evening slots available as well as in-person and virtual options. If you haven’t already done so, please log in to FACTS Family Portal to sign up for a conference time slot. If you have any questions about how to sign up, refer to yesterday’s email.

Out of Uniform Flyer

The Out of Uniform flyer went home earlier this week; click here if you missed it! All K-8 students are invited to participate in our Out of Uniform days throughout the school year. All proceeds from this fundraiser support our 7th grade class (Class of 2027) as they prepare for next year’s 8th grade class trip.

Student Council

Last Friday, we held our Student Council elections. Thank you to all students who ran for an office and gave speeches in front of their peers. Congratulations to our newly elected Student Council members:

  • President: Grace Coglianese
  • Vice President: Mary Devine
  • Secretary: Ian MacLeod
  • Treasurer: Ari Sisnett
  • At-Large Members: Pia Rivero & Tyler Tomeczko

5th Grade Representatives will be announced as soon as they are selected.

Safety Reminder

Throughout the school day, our staff and students are trained to never open the door for someone and to never prop doors unless a staff member is actively monitoring (such as during arrival). As parents and volunteers, we ask that you do the same. Whether you are volunteering for lunch/recess, attending an event, or coaching after hours, please help us keep our school community safe by avoiding propping doors, even after hours. Thank you!

Reminder: No Outside Toys at School

We have noticed several students bringing outside toys to school, especially to after care. This becomes a problem because they can get mixed in with the school’s toys, or students are trying to trade them without parent permission. Please keep all outside toys at home to avoid these issues. We have a variety of toys available at After Care for students to use. The only exception should be if your child is bringing in something that was approved by the teacher for a special occasion.

Saintly Acts

Congratulations to the following students, who earned Saintly Acts this week: Noah B. (6th grade), Johnny D. (7th grade), Quinton G. (7th grade), Patrick M. (7th grade), Makenna D. (6th grade), Erickson G. (1st grade), Charlie E. (2nd grade), Teddy E. (6th grade), George K. (2nd grade), Kate N. (2nd grade), and Laila S. (3rd grade). Keep being saintly!

Warm regards,

Margie Marshall
