Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 4/29/2020 - A Few Weeks Left

With just a few weeks left in our school year, there is a lot going on here at ASCA! Please click here for a May calendar highlighting the special events this month. I’ve included our Class of 2021 celebrations as well as events that impact the whole school. I encourage all parents to read the weekly reminders from Mrs. Bajek each Sunday for details over the next few weeks. Class of 2021, we’ll continue to send separate communications about your celebratory events as well; look for an update coming soon!

As I mentioned in last week’s Saints Speak, next week (May 3-7) is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are blessed to have such dedicated, compassionate teachers here at All Saints. Please use this week to thank our fabulous faculty for all they do!

As our school year draws to a close, we have two opportunities for charitable giving that I urge you to consider. We are entering the month of May, and we use this time to celebrate our mothers. We thank our earthly mothers for their continued love, support, and guidance for us at all stages of our lives. We also honor Mary, the Mother of the Church, through May Crowning services this month. As we show gratitude for the mothers and motherly figures in our lives, please consider supporting those who may be struggling with the new or unexpected calling to motherhood by supporting the VIRTUAL Baby Bottle Campaign. All proceeds benefit Waterleaf Women's Center, which provides assistance for those facing unplanned pregnancy. Click here for more information or to make a donation.

We will also be hosting a shoe drive; see below for more details!

It’s spring cleaning time! Are you looking to clean out your closets in anticipation of summer? And, would you like to help those in need while doing it? In partnership with the Paralysis Recovery Foundation, we are running a shoe drive on Thursday, May 13th and Friday May 14th to help those in need.

The details:

  • Shoe drive collection datesThursday, May 13th and Friday, May 14th
  • What: New or gently used shoes of any size or kind
  • WhereShoes can be placed in bins by doors 1 and 7

The shoes will be picked up by the Paralysis Recovery Foundation after school on May 14th. Questions? Please contact Anne Soto (anneponcesoto@gmail.com) or Robin Beck (robindbeck24@gmail.com) Thank you so much for your support!

Those of you who have previously volunteered at All Saints or been involved in committees know that Ms. Diane Huber goes to great lengths to keep our school building clean, orderly, and running smoothly. She is in constant communication with our cleaning company to ensure we have the best products and the most dedicated crew. Ms. Huber recently entered a contest on the school’s behalf and won a new Clorox Total 360 Machine! This electrostatic sprayer, valued at approximately $5,000, is used to sanitize and disinfect throughout the building. We are excited for this new machine and look forward to continuing to provide a safe, clean environment for your children.

Amita Health is providing a free virtual presentation to answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are interested, click here for more information.

Our 7th grade students participated in Science Fair virtually this year, and two of our students received recognition at the virtual Regional Fair. Congratulations to Luke D., whose project earned a Gold award and qualified for the state competition, and to Declan D., whose project earned a Silver award. Great job!

For Thankful Thursday this week, we would like to recognize Meson Sabika, a 2020 DDA sponsor. We thank Meson Sabika for their continued support of All Saints and encourage our families to visit this great restaurant for delicious tapas sometime soon!

Lastly, I’d like to recognize the following students who received Saintly Acts this week: David H. (6th grade), Alex S. (6th grade), Alex W. (6th grade), Ryan C. (5th grade), Lucas J. (5th grade), Carmen R. (6th grade), Kya C. (6th grade), Jencarlo C. (5th grade), Ellie C. (4th grade), Amelia J. (4th grade), William S. (6th grade), and all students in KA, KB, 1A, and 1B.
