Thank You, Teachers!
It was great to meet some of our Pre-K and Kindergarten parents in person this morning at our first “Meet the Principal” gathering! Thank you for braving the cold. We look forward to more gatherings as we get closer to “normal” and are able to hold more social functions. If you didn’t sign up yet, space is still available for our upcoming sessions, including 5th/6th grade parents next Tuesday. Click here to sign up; the weather looks much better for next week’s gathering than it did this morning!
The week of May 3rd is Teacher Appreciation Week. I know you share my sentiment that we are blessed to have such dedicated, generous, knowledgeable teachers at All Saints. They are masters of their content, and they show overwhelming love and care for your children each day. ASPA (our All Saints Parent Association) has plans to keep them well-fed throughout the week (thank you ASPA!), but I encourage each family to take this opportunity to tell the teachers how much they mean to you, in whatever way you see fit. Thank you!
While many competitions, such as athletics, have been put on hold this year, we have still been able to participate in virtual academic competitions!
On Monday, junior high students from All Saints competed in the 10th Annual Crosstown Debate against other schools in the area. Over 85 students on 32 different teams competed. All Saints placed second with an average score of 94.15. Two 8th grade students from ASCA received near perfect scores and placed in the top 5: CJ S. and Katherine K. Congratulations to CJ, Katherine, and all our Saints! Thank you to Ms. Selvick, Mrs. Galise, and Mr. Calaway for helping prepare the students.
Throughout the year, the ASCA Math Club has participated in several virtual competitions, where they continue to excel. Our 6th grade and 7th grade teams each placed 6th in the Illinois Math League contest this year. Congrats to several students who received individual honors as well: Alex W. (12th place in 6th grade), Ella P. (20th place in 6th grade), Caroline K. (24th place in 6th grade), Abby T. (10th place in 7th grade), Gavin F. (30th place in 7th grade), and Colin M. (30th place in 7th grade).
At the St. Francis High School Math Contest, ASCA students continued to shine! Congratulations to 7th grade students Gavin F. (4th place) and Luke D. (8th place)! Congratulations to 8th grade students Matthew B. (1st place), William J. (2nd place), Maddie K. (tied for 4th place), Bella W. (tied for 4th place), and Zoe G. (10th place).
Several students have participated in the MathCounts competitions throughout the year. Congratulations to three 8th grade students, William J., Matthew B., and Maddie K., who did so well at the regional competition that they earned individual trophies. William’s performance at the regional level qualified him for participation at the state contest as well. We are so proud of our Saints!
For Thankful Thursday this week, we would like to recognize Judge Ann Celine Walsh, a 2020 DDA sponsor. We thank Judge Walsh for her continued support of All Saints!
Lastly, I’d like to recognize the following students who received Saintly Acts this week: Kaylee W. (4th grade), Mary F. (7th grade), Camryn S. (5th grade), Dean F. (7th grade), Bianca B. (4th grade), Ashley S. (4th grade), Jackson F. (2nd grade), Declan D. (7th grade), and Caitlin A. (5th grade). Keep being Saintly!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
