Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 4/21/2022 - Easter: More Than Just a Day
Happy Easter!
Easter Sunday is the greatest of all Sundays for our Church, but it is only the beginning of the Easter season, which lasts 50 days! We are currently in the Octave of Easter, as we continue to celebrate the joy of the Resurrection. You can read more about the season of Easter from the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) by clicking here. Throughout these 50 days, the most important liturgical season, we continue to say Alleluia and celebrate that He is risen – all to save us from our sins.
This Monday, April 25 is Spring Picture Day. Students may be out of uniform but should wear dress clothes today. Please see Patty’s reminders from last weekend for more information on the dress code for out of uniform days.
The week of May 2nd is Teacher Appreciation Week. ASPA has planned some great treats for our fantastic faculty, but I wanted to make sure all parents were aware of this upcoming special week. We are blessed to have such dedicated, generous, knowledgeable teachers at All Saints. They are masters of their content, and they show overwhelming love and care for your children each day. Please mark the first week of May on your calendar and plan to say thank you to your teachers for all they do!
As we are busy planning for next year, a priority is the DDA Fund-A-Need – creating a media center for our students by repurposing and expanding upon our current STEAM lab and library spaces. If you are interested in helping with the design of this educational space, please let me know! We are looking for a few parents who can assist with our planning efforts.
Yesterday 34 ASCA junior high students participated in the Crosstown Debate against students from Saints Peter and Paul and Saint Raphael. Congratulations to all our debaters on a job well done, and a special congrats to the following students who were part of top-scoring teams:
- Katie Deckard and her team placed first with a score of 225/240
- Josie Cadden and her team placed second.
- Judd Isom and Eva Kim were on separate teams who both each placed third.
Way to go!
For Thankful Thursday today, we’d like to thank Rodrigo Menendez – State Farm Insurance! Bobby Menendez has been a longtime volunteer and supporter of All Saints. Please visit his website; we are so grateful for the generosity of this ASCA family!
Congratulations and thank you to these students who earned Saintly Acts this week: Luke V. (3rd grade), Graham H. (3rd grade), Edison L. (3rd grade), Zachary L. (3rd grade), William T. (2nd grade), Robin K. (1st grade), Leyla W. (1st grade), and Annalise A. (2nd grade). Keep being Saintly!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
