Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 3/11/2020 - Spring is Coming
The weather this week has certainly given us a taste of spring! With only two weeks left until spring break, there is excitement and anticipation in the air. It’s important that we remember to stay focused on our academics at this time and continue to work diligently. The third quarter ends next Friday, March 19. Please be sure to check SchoolSpeak and check in with your children on their progress now so there are no surprises when report cards are sent home.
We are just 9 days away from the Saints Strong Virtual Celebration! Make sure you get your tickets so you can join in the fun! The live auction kicks off Monday, with one item auctioned off each day. Even if you can’t join us for trivia on March 20th, you can still participate in the live and silent auctions, and I hope you’ll consider contributing to our Fund a Cause to create an All Saints STEM Lab. Click here for more information on tickets, the auction, raffles, food options, and more!
It has been just over a month since a racial slur was written on the wall of our boys’ bathroom, and I wanted to provide an update on the school’s actions. Mrs. Collins began to investigate and search for a responsible party, and I continued the investigation when I returned last week. Unfortunately, we have exhausted all information available to us and have not been able to determine who is responsible. This investigation will remain open, so if any time you have information that may be helpful, please come forward. Through prayer and education, we will continue to move forward as a school community, remembering that we are all made in God’s image and that we are called as Christians to love one another.
I’m excited to share that all ASCA faculty and staff who wished to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are in the process of receiving it! The Diocese of Joliet organized a vaccination event for faculty and staff, and many of our teachers will soon be receiving their second vaccine dose. Thank you to our nurse, Mrs. Fuller, who helped any teachers and staff who couldn’t take part in the Diocesan vaccine day to find appointments elsewhere!
You’ve likely heard that the Illinois Department of Public Health released revised guidance related to COVID protocols. We are reviewing this guidance along with the Diocesan Catholic Schools Office. At this time we will be continuing to follow all our COVID protocols, which we believe have helped us to remain safely in school for over 120 days. We will use the updated guidance to guide us in our planning for the fall and will communicate any changes to parents as decisions are made. Thank you for your continued attention to our safety protocols and for your help in keeping our students safely in school!
For Thankful Thursday this week, we would like to recognize Country Financial Insurance, one of our Blue & Gold sponsors. Our very own Zavala family and Country Financial have been great supporters of ASCA – thank you!
Lastly, we recognized several students this morning for Saintly Acts. Congratulations and thank you to Jack W. (2nd grade), Isabelle A. (1st grade), Gigi G. (1st grade), Ian M. (2nd grade), Andrew W.
