Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 11/3/2022 - The Love of Christ
Today’s Saints Speak is longer than usual, but please make sure to read this important information thoroughly!
First, take a few moments to reflect on today’s quote from Pope Francis:
“St. Paul says that ‘the love of Christ compels us,’ but this ‘compels us’ can also be translated as ‘possesses us.’ And so it is: love attracts us and sends us; it draws us in and gives us to others.”
When I think of the word “possess,” the word has a negative connotation. Being possessed by something evil comes to mind, as does being possessive of our belongings, our friends, and our loved ones and not sharing. How beautiful is it, though, to think about being possessed by the love of Christ? What if all our actions, all our thoughts, all our dreams and wishes, were centered in this love? If we take down our walls, let the love of Christ fully into our hearts, just imagine how much it could change our relationships and our world for the better.
Thank You!!!
Thank you to all who celebrated the Feast of All Saints with us by either attending our Mass or participating in our Day of Giving. It was a beautiful day to celebrate our school! Our students enjoyed learning about the saints throughout the day, especially in junior high where each student shared a saint report with his/her classmates. Our 2nd Annual Day of Giving raised over $15,000 for our school! If you would still like to contribute, click here to visit the Day of Giving site. We are so grateful for all who generously contributed, including current and former parents and grandparents, faculty, Board members, and more. We are blessed to have your support!
Re-Enrollment for the 2023-2024 School Year:
We are grateful that you have chosen All Saints for your child’s education and that you have entrusted your child to us. We are thankful for your partnership and hope we can continue to work together to educate your child(ren). We warmly invite all current ASCA families to return to for the 2023-2024 school year! Please see below for details regarding the re-enrollment process.
- If you would like to re-enroll your student(s) for the 2023-2024 school year, no further action is needed on your part. All students, with the exception of 8th graders preparing for graduation, will be automatically re-enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year unless we hear otherwise from you.
- If you have a current PS3 student returning for PK4, a Google form will be sent to you after Christmas to confirm which days your child will be attending for the 2023-2024 school year.
- If you have a child not currently enrolled at All Saints that you would like to enroll for the 2023-2024 school year, please complete this New Sibling Registration Form and submit it to Patty Bajek along with the child’s original official birth certificate (will be copied and returned to you), baptism and other sacramental certificates (where applicable, copies are acceptable), most recent grade report and standardized test scores (students entering grades 1-8, copies are acceptable), and most recent IEP or 504 Plan (where applicable, copies are acceptable). Enrollment paperwork for siblings of current ASCA students must be submitted no later than Monday, December 12 to be given preference in enrollment.
Please note the following regarding the re-enrollment fee and tuition pre-payment:
- The re-enrollment fee is $250 per family and is non-refundable. The fee will be charged to your current FACTS agreement on Friday, January 13, 2023, and payable within 10 days of invoice. If the re-enrollment fee is not paid by the invoice due date, your student’s spot will be released and become available for a newly registered student.
- We will require a $250 non-refundable payment per family that will be credited to next year’s 2023-2024 tuition. This payment will be charged to your current FACTS agreement, and payable by Friday, April 14, 2023. Families who do not pay this amount that will be credited to 2023-2024 tuition will forfeit their student’s enrollment spot at that time.
- Families who would like to request a payment plan for these charges may contact the ASCA Business Office.
If you do not intend to return to ASCA for the 2023-2024 school year, please inform me in writing via email (mmarshall@ascacademy.org) no later than Friday, December 9. You will be charged the $250 non-refundable re-enrollment fee if you do not notify us by December 9. If your child is graduating in May 2023, you do not have to notify us, and you will not be charged a re-enrollment fee.
If, after notifying the school that you do not intend to re-enroll, you wish to change your decision and re-enroll for the 2023-2024 school year after December 9, you will be accepted as space is available and the enrollment fee will be as follows:
- From December 10, 2022-January 28, 2023, the enrollment fee will be $275 per family
- From January 29, 2023-June 30, 2023, the enrollment fee will be $300 per family
- From July 1, 2023-July 31, 2023, the enrollment fee will be $325 per family
- From August 1, 2023 forward, the enrollment fee will be $350 per family
The ASCA Administration and Board of Directors makes every effort to be excellent stewards of the school’s resources, thoughtfully setting tuition and fee rates as well as policies that support our mission of providing academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment. Thank you for sharing your plans for the 2023-2024 school year with us in a timely fashion. Student enrollment informs our budget, staffing, and purchasing decisions as we plan for the upcoming school year.
If you have any questions about the enrollment process or would like to further discuss your plans for next year, please contact me (Margie Marshall – mmarshall@ascacademy.org) or Patty Bajek (pbajek@ascacademy.org).
Health & Hygiene Reminders:
We have had many students and staff members out with illnesses recently. Many of our sick students are testing positive for Influenza. Click here to read more about influenza. Most importantly, remind your child to wash their hands regularly and if your child is ill, please keep them home to avoid further spreading of these viruses. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school. We are still in a pandemic, and flu and COVID symptoms are very similar. If your child has these symptoms, a negative COVID test is still required to return to school; home tests are acceptable. Thank you for helping keep our community healthy!
Tax Credit Scholarship Program Update:
Did you know that over the last five years, 54 scholarships have been awarded to All Saints students thanks to Empower Illinois ant the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program? Throughout the state the program has awarded more than 37,000 scholarships worth $280 million, allowing students to attend great schools like ASCA where they might not otherwise be able to afford tuition. Despite its immense success, the Tax Credit Scholarship Program is a pilot program and has a sunset clause that would end the program in 2023, unless our state lawmakers vote to extend or make the program permanent. We need YOUR help letting your legislators know you value this program and that it is valuable to our ASCA community. Click here to contact your legislators and as them to #RemoveTheSunset!
November Virtue and Person of the Month:
Tomorrow and throughout November our students will be learning about the virtue of stewardship during their Friday Faith Buddy time. Click here for some suggested home activities to discuss stewardship as a family. These projects are optional but a great way to learn about the virtues together at home!
November is Native American Heritage Month. Students will be learning about our person of the month, St. Kateri. Look for a video from our 5th graders about St. Kateri at the end of the month!
