Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - We Are Thankful - 11/11/2021
While it's hard to believe, Thanksgiving is in just two weeks! The month of November is always a great time to remember our many blessings. We know we face challenges, but we also have so much to be thankful for. In a reflection I read recently, the author reminded me that each time we celebrate mass the priest begins the Eucharistic Prayer by saying “Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.” The word Eucharist literally means “thanksgiving.” We are often moved to give thanks when we feel our prayer has been answered or we experience an unexpected blessing. I challenge you, especially during the month of November, to find something new to be thankful for each day, and to find time in your day to give thanks to God for the many blessings we receive.
Today, Veterans Day, I am especially thankful for our veterans. These men and women who have served in the military risk their lives in order to protect our nation and our freedom. Today, we pray in gratitude for these individuals who have sacrificed so that we can continue to enjoy so many freedoms and blessings.
Next week, all classes will be completing the Diocese's required safe environment lessons during religion classes. Please click here for more information; you only need to return the bottom portion of the letter if you are choosing to "opt out" of the lessons. Please read this message from Mrs. Detwiler about our 7th grade Science Fair:
As many of our families know, our 7th graders have been working extremely hard on their Science Fair Projects. We began our work in August and should finish up before Christmas break. Our final step is helping our students prepare for the Regional competition that occurs in March and the State competition in April. This is where you come in!! We need judges, and lots of them, so our students can practice delivering their speeches at our Local Science Fair on Thursday, January 27th from 11:30 to 3:30.
In order for this event to run smoothly, we will need 40 judges. You do not need to be a scientist to help out, just a love for helping kids!!! I will explain all the judging criteria to our volunteers on the 27th or feel free to reach out to me at any time. Please use the link to sign up for this year's judging!
Thanks,
Maggie Detwiler and Barbara Hoeft
Last weekend a group of 7th and 8th graders competed in a math contest at Montini Catholic High School. All the students did great; we are so proud of their accomplishments!

We would also like to recognize and congratulate our many junior high students who have earned a place on the First Quarter Honor Roll! We are proud of their efforts and achievement throughout the quarter and look forward to an equally successful second quarter for all.
