Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 4/7/2022 - April Events at ASCA
With spring break behind us, we are looking forward to Easter. I reminded the students earlier this week that we are still in the Lenten season, a time to use prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to grow closer to Christ. Even if you have struggled with your Lenten promise, each day is an opportunity to reset and try again.
At school we have been praying the Stations of the Cross weekly, both as an entire school community and in our individual classes. Our 7th graders have been preparing to lead the Living Stations of the Cross on April 14th (Holy Thursday) at 2pm. Please join us! If you are unable to attend in person, you can join us virtually as well.
As we prepare for the end of the current school year and continue our planning for the fall, I ask you to prayerfully consider how you can share your talents with the ASCA community and if you are being called to join a school committee or our Board of Directors (School Board). The Board has three main areas of responsibility:
1.Planning: ensure the school mission is being lived, support the school's marketing and recruitment efforts, recommend the implementation of any capital campaigns and capital projects, and maintain a long-range strategic plan.
2.Policy Development: recommend administrative policies consistent with Diocesan policies, periodically review the Board Constitution, provide review and oversight of the implementation of school policies, and establish policies for use of the grounds and buildings.
3.Financial responsibilities: develop an annual budget for the school and oversee general financial matters of the school.
Board members serve on one of the four existing committees: Marketing, Catholic Identity & Diversity, Finance and Operations, or Fundraising. Click here to read more about these committees. If you are interested in the Board of Directors, please contact me, your pastor, or Board President Megan Thies (schoolboardpresident@ascacademy.org). Board members serve in an advisory capacity in the areas described above for a three-year term. They are integral to the success of the school in the committee roles that they hold and perform, and in their enthusiastic support of school administration and the greater school community. If you want to get more involved but aren’t quite ready for the Board yet, consider joining a committee instead! Use the link above to learn more about the committees and how to get involved.
April is Autism Awareness Month . For our Person of the Month, we have selected St. Thorlak, who has been proposed as the patron saint of autism. Our 3rd and 7th grade students are preparing videos to share more about St. Thorlak with you at the end of the month!
Congratulations to all students who made the 3rd Quarter Honor Roll! Certificates will be distributed by early next week.
As a reminder, we will be celebrating meeting our Book Fair sales goal with an out of uniform day on Tuesday, April 12th. Thank you again to all who helped organize the event, volunteered, and purchased books!
For Thankful Thursday today, we’d like to thank Innovative Orthodontic Centers and Innovative Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Ibrahim is a longtime supporter of All Saints and the DDA; please check out the Innovative Orthodontics website to learn more about how they might be able to meet your dental needs!
