Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 3/24/2022 - Spring Break Is Almost Here

There is a lot of energy in school today as our students and staff get ready for spring break! Whether you are traveling or staying in town, I hope that next week is a chance for you to relax, spend time with friends and family, and rejuvenate. I am excited for some time away while also looking forward to our return in April and to a great last few months of our school year together!

3rd quarter report cards will be going home with all students tomorrow. The report card is yours to keep; please sign and return the report card envelope after break. I suggest signing the envelope right away on Friday and placing it in your child’s backpack so it doesn’t get misplaced during the break.

You may click here for the 2022-2023 calendar. There are two changes to our school year that I would like to bring to your attention:

  • Next year we will be using trimester grading periods instead of quarters. This means your child will receive three report cards during the year instead of four, with each including approximately 12 weeks of instruction. The longer grading period allows the teachers to incorporate more grades so the report card is a more accurate portrayal of a student’s achievement.

  • Parent-teacher conferences will be in early October, halfway through the first trimester. This earlier conference time is designed to increase collaboration and communication between teachers and parents. It also gives students a chance to show growth and improvement for the remainder of the marking period, rather than focusing the conference discussion on grades that are already finalized.

Consider joining us for Living Stations of the Cross, led by our 7th grade students, on April 14th (Holy Thursday) at 2pm. We will share a livestream link that week so you can pray with us virtually if you are unable to attend in person.

Vision and Hearing Screenings will be conducted tomorrow by the DuPage County Health Department. These screenings are for all preschool-3rd grade students, 8th grade students, and students with IEPs. Per health department guidelines, students are required to mask for these screenings. We will have disposable masks available for the screenings, which can then be discarded.

Thank you to all parent volunteers who helped make this week’s Book Fair a success! We surpassed our goal of $7500 in sales, earning the students a school-wide Out of Uniform Day on Tuesday, April 12th. If you missed the chance to shop, you can still make purchases through the online Book Fair through April 3rd. Happy reading!

As you know, throughout the month of March we’ve been focusing on important women in history. Our March Person of the Month is Dorothy Day. Our students would like to share what they’ve learned with you. Click here for a video from our 1st grade students, and click here to hear from our 6th graders!

Did you know that next week is National Cleaning Week? While we won't be in school, we want to thank Bart, Abel, and the entire Buck Services team for all they do to keep our school clean each day. They show such care and dedication for our students, faculty and campus!!

Please join us for a beautiful day on the golf course celebrating and benefitting All Saints Catholic Academy. The All Saints Golf Classic will be held on Monday, May 16 th at White Eagle Golf Club. Registration and breakfast start at 8:00am, the scramble format starts with a shotgun at 10:00am. If you are not available for golf, please consider joining us for the afternoon from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Click here to register. Please contact Wayne Klein with any questions at 630.202.4400 or wklein@kleinconstruction.net.

The spring session of Chess Scholars is in danger of being canceled if more students don’t enroll! Consider signing up for Chess this spring; no prior experience needed! Click here for more information. This extracurricular activity is open to all K-8 students.

For Thankful Thursday today, we’d like to thank Klein Construction. Please check out their website to learn more about how this ASCA family-owned business might be able to assist with your commercial construction needs!

Congratulations and thank you to these students who earned Saintly Acts this week: Nathan E. (3rd grade), Zachary L. (3rd grade), Felipe P. (8th grade), Sayo A. (8th grade), Rylee R. (3rd grade), Luke K. (2nd grade), Reeve M. (2nd grade), Luke B. (1st grade), and Morgan W. (1st grade). Keep being Saintly!

Have a restful, relaxing, and safe spring break!
