Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 12/4/2025 - Generous Hearts in Preparing for Our Lord
I hope your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Our saint this week is St. Nicholas, and our holy habit is generosity. We practice generosity throughout the Advent season as we prepare gifts for loved ones, donate to giving trees, and contribute to the school’s Hesed House collection. Another way we can show generosity is in how we treat one another. Tangible gifts are wonderful, but an act of kindness, an extra smile, or offering forgiveness to someone are also great ways to show generosity. This Advent season, may we have generous hearts as we prepare for the coming of the Lord.
Mass
We have 3 school Masses before Christmas break: tomorrow morning, Monday 12/8 (Immaculate Conception Mass will replace Friday Mass next week), and Friday, 12/19. Click here and RSVP if you plan to join us for one or all of these. As a reminder, since Monday 12/8 is a Mass day, all students should be in perfect uniform.
School Arrival
Arrival has been especially challenging this week with many families not following the procedures for drop off. Please be mindful of the following so all students can enter school safely and efficiently:
- When you enter campus, please USE BOTH DOORS to drop off. Waiting for Door 1 causes traffic to unsafely back up onto Aurora Ave. While I know it is cold, I assure you that all our students can manage the walk from the drop off line to Door 7.
- Please PULL UP ALL THE WAY at both doors. At Door 1, this means to the edge of the sidewalk, right before the snow. At Door 7, this means to the second safety zone gate. This allows us to safely unload multiple cars at one time.
- Your child should be ready to get out of the vehicle when you pull up. This means coats on and backpacks easily accessible. If you are not ready, you may pull to the side by the staff parking lot and then re-join the line at Door 7 when ready.
- Parents, unless your child is still in a car seat with 5-point harness and needs assistance with unbuckling that, please stay in the car and allow them to get out of the vehicle on their own. This not only keeps the line moving efficiently, it also helps them build independence that benefits all aspects of their schooling.
Thank you for helping arrival go smoothly for all of us!
Annual Appeal
Just as we were ending our Grandparents Day celebration last week and readying ourselves for Thanksgiving, school families should have received the All Saints Annual Appeal letter in their home mailboxes. In sharing the Greco family's journey and experiences, I hope that we all agree that we too have found a home at All Saints and that there is much to be thankful for. We have seen interest in enrollment at All Saints continue to grow with a record number of applications submitted for the coming 2026-2027 school year. Most of these families have an All Saints connection or simply have heard that there are great things happening at our school and this is where they want to call home. Thank you for sharing your children with us, allowing us to be part of their lives, and trusting us to partner with you in their development. We are so grateful!
The Annual Appeal allows us to continue the important work of educating young minds and forming hearts in Christ. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000 as we continue to maintain and upgrade our facilities and academic programs while staying true to our mission of creating saints and scholars. With the appeal, we would love to see 100% family and faculty participation as together we continue to grow this home that is ASCA.
Please prayerfully consider supporting the Annual Appeal to the extent you are able. Each gift, no matter the amount, demonstrates your support for and faith in our school community. In keeping with last year's annual appeal, we are bringing back the Family Ice Cream Social as an added incentive, and it will be better than ever! Last year, Mrs. Porlier's 1A homeroom was the grand prize winner. In this contest among our homerooms, for the homeroom with the greatest percentage of families who contribute to the appeal in any amount before 1/1/26, the winners will enjoy a family ice cream social in January when we return from Christmas Break. How great would it be to have multiple homerooms with 100% participation and a huge ice cream social to ring in the New Year?!
Thank you in advance for your support and consideration!
Multicultural Nativity Display
We will be hosting a one-day exhibition for our students on Friday, December 12 celebrating the beautiful diversity of our community. If your family has a nativity set that reflects your country of origin, cultural background, or personal tradition, we would be delighted if you would consider sharing it with us for the event. If you are interested in participating, please email Mrs. Hepburn at jhepburn@ascacademy.org. Click here for more information.
Candy Grams
Student Voices is once again selling Candy Grams for students to send to friends and classmates! Click here for more information; orders may be placed now through December 12th. Click here for the order form and click here for the form to fill out your candy gram messages.
Saintly Acts
Unfortunately the reporting side of the FACTS system isn’t working this morning, so we were unable to share Saintly Acts. We look forward to sharing many Saintly Acts next week!
Stay warm,
Margie Marshall
