Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 12/15/2022 - The Gift of Forgiveness
Take a few minutes to reflect on today’s quote from Pope Francis:
“I see clearly that the thing the church needs most today is the ability to heal wounds and to warm the hearts of the faithful; it needs nearness, proximity.”
When I think about healing, I think about forgiveness. It is very difficult to heal if we have not forgiven. Is there someone in your life that you need to forgive so you (or they) can heal? Is there someone you need to ask for forgiveness? Do you need to forgive yourself? As we near Christmas, what a beautiful time to forgive and be forgiven, preparing our hearts for the coming of our Savior!
Christmas Concert
I look forward to seeing many of you this evening for our Christmas Concert! As a reminder, the concert begins at 6pm. Please enter through Door 1; doors will open at 5:30pm. Students will sit in the bleachers with their class for the duration of the program and should leave coats, cell phones, and any other personal belongings with you before finding their seat in the bleachers. The program will last approximately one hour and we ask families to stay for the duration of the program out of respect for all our students performing. It is sure to be a beautiful evening!
2023 DDA: The Great Gatsby Gala
Be sure to check your child’s backpack today, as you’ll be receiving an important packet of information about our upcoming Dinner Dance Auction (DDA). This year’s DDA, the Great Gatsby Gala, will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Bolingbrook Golf Club. It is our biggest fundraiser of the school year and a great time for all who attend. Make sure you have the night on your calendar, and line up your babysitters now!
As you can imagine, a great deal of planning and preparation goes into making the DDA a success. The committees are already hard at work, but this is truly a team effort; a fantastic DDA is only possible if our entire community is involved. In the packet you’re receiving today you’ll find several forms outlining ways you can contribute. Please reach out to Krissy Murray, this year’s DDA Chair, at DDA@ascacademy.org with any questions. Thank you in advance!
Gradebook Reminder
While I know our minds are distracted with holiday preparations, please be aware that we are nearing the midpoint of the trimester. Please make sure you are checking your child’s grades in SchoolSpeak and reminding them to turn in any missing work. We will do our first check for sports eligibility on January 12, the week we return from Christmas Break.
