Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 10/29/2020 - Celebrations

Thank you, parents, for your quick adjustment to our new arrival procedures this morning! We were able to accurately and safely take all students’ temperatures, and get all students in the building and to class on time. Thank you for your assistance with this!

It has been a great first week of the quarter, as we have welcomed our virtual learners back to campus and welcomed several new students to our All Saints family as well. Our existing in-person student body has assisted their new classmates with getting acclimated to a new school and new procedures. The new students have done an excellent job adjusting to the routines and expectations as well. I am continually impressed by the kindness and willingness to help that our students show to one another each day. Parents, you have much to be proud of, as your children are truly living out the Gospel message in their interactions with one another!

I know our students are very excited for the Halloween celebrations tomorrow! Students may wear costumes to school, or be out of uniform in Halloween colors. Please remember, if they choose to wear costumes, they must be able to sit at their desk comfortably and use the bathroom easily. Makeup, weapons, and masks (other than our daily masks) are not allowed. We can’t wait to see their creativity with our Halloween mask contest – prizes will be awarded for the most creative mask at each grade level!

I’d also like to make sure all our families are familiar with the All Saints Parent Association, also known as ASPA. This group is powered and run by the parents of All Saints Catholic Academy, and committed to building a strong community by supporting our students, teachers, and school families.  Please check out this short video from our ASPA leaders.  ASPA provided lunch for the teachers on their Institute Day in October.  ASPA is also providing supplies for this week’s Halloween classroom celebrations.  ASPA would like to give a big shout out to the Zavala family for donating all the snacks for the Halloween parties. THANK YOU!!  Please email Courtney Devine at devine2112@hotmail.com to find out more about how you can become involved with ASPA.

Sunday begins a very special week for us at ASCA, beginning with All Saints Day!  Since we can’t be together to celebrate mass as a school community on Sunday, we will celebrate our All Saints mass on Wednesday, November 4th. We will have a small gift for our students on Monday in recognition of All Saints Day, as well. Monday also marks our 50th day of school this year! We are delighted to be in person learning and growing together each day. In celebration of being Halfway to 100, we will have special games (socially distanced) in the gym throughout the day on Tuesday! On Tuesday, November 3, students may wear spirit wear tops and out of uniform bottoms. If you don’t yet have spirit wear, you can always were blue and yellow to show your ASCA spirit. We’ll conclude our short school week with No Cookin’ in the Kitchen at Culver’s on Wednesday night!

As a reminder, there is no school on Thursday or Friday next weekParent-Teacher Conferences are 10 am-7 pm on Thursday, and Friday is a teacher in-service day. If you haven’t already done so, please use School Speak to sign up for conferences over the weekend; sign-ups close on Monday. Conferences will be virtual this year; Zoom links will be sent out next week. Please use conference times to ask teachers any questions you may have about report cards or IOWA test scores, which will be sent home tomorrow. As the faculty and staff of All Saints, we consider ourselves your partners in your child’s education. We look forward to parent-teacher conferences, as they are a great time to touch base with one another and continue to work together for each child’s benefit.
