Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 10/22/2020 - New Beginnings

Tomorrow is the last day of the first quarter!  Report cards will be sent home next Friday, 10/30, and parent-teacher conferences will be held the following Thursday, 11/5. Please sign up for parent-teacher conferences via SchoolSpeak if you have not already done so.

We are excited to celebrate 25% of our school year safely in person and look forward to continuing this practice in the 2nd quarter. On Monday, we will welcome many of our virtual learners back to in-person instruction. We look forward to their return! Parents of those returning, please rest assured that our staff is ready to welcome your children and help them adjust back to the classroom environment, including the new COVID-related procedures.  We also extend a welcome to some brand new students, as well.

We continue to follow updates from the DuPage County Health Department and the Diocese of Joliet regarding the prevalence of COVID in our local community. We also continue to follow our established protocols to prevent the spread of illness in our community, including mask-wearing, social distancing, and frequent sanitization and hand-washing. There are no active cases of COVID-19 at All Saints, and we attribute this success largely to the protocols we have in place. We will remain diligent in our efforts to follow these practices; thank you for your dedication to doing the same at home! Together we can continue to keep our ASCA community safe and healthy.

During this time of social distancing and limited gatherings, we know many of you are missing the connection you would normally feel to the school and to the ASCA community. While we can’t yet gather in person as a large school community, the ASCA Marketing Committee has created a way for parents to connect with one another virtually! At each grade level, MoMo Boards have been created for parent communication and community-building. MoMo Boards are a virtual community forum and messaging app to help you coordinate activities, create carpools, figure out what kids are wearing, find ways to get involved, and more! You don’t have to be on Facebook or other social media apps to participate, and the content shared is just between participating All Saints parents. With their next weekly newsletter, classroom teachers will be sending out grade-specific instructions for joining the MoMo board at each grade level. Keep an eye out for this email so you can join; we can’t wait to see you on MoMo Board!

Don’t forget (although I’m sure your children won’t let you!), next Friday, 10/30, we’ll celebrate Halloween! All students are invited to wear their costume to school. Costumes must be comfortable enough that students can easily sit at a desk and use the bathroom; no weapons, makeup, or masks that cover their eyes. If students choose not to dress up, they may be out of uniform in Halloween colors. Classroom teachers are organizing celebrations in each classroom, and treats will be provided by ASPA. We’ll also have a mask contest (the kind that cover your nose and mouth that we wear daily). Students are encouraged to decorate their mask to match their costume or show their Halloween spirit; there will be a prize for the top mask at each grade level.

Lastly, I’d like to recognize our students who have performed Saintly Acts over the last two weeks. Thank you to Bridget C. (4th grade), Musa K. (6th grade), Teddy E. (1st grade), Jack D. (8th grade), Axel A (Kdg.), Jonathan T. (2nd grade), Kailey D. (7th grade), Nico M. (2nd grade), Graham H. (2nd grade), Quinn T. (2nd grade), Macy M. (7th grade), Nora G. (3rd grade), Katie H.
