First Saints Speak of the New Year
Dear ASCA families,
This is our first Saints Speak of the new year! For families new to ASCA, you can expect to receive Saints Speak via email every Thursday. It'll include updates on what's happening in school as well as important dates for your calendars. Throughout the school year you’ll also receive a Sunday email from Patty Bajek with reminders for the coming week. Please read this entire message carefully, as there are a few items that require your response.
First, mark your calendars for Meet & Greet on Sunday, August 15th, from 1-3pm. This event will be held OUTDOORS, rain or shine, so all families can gather together to celebrate the start of the school year. We will begin with prayer and then have time to visit with one another, purchase spirit wear, and more. All are welcome; we hope to see you there!
We would like to kick off the year with a small gift for our students. Please click here to let us know your child’s t-shirt size. Complete this very short form by Friday, July 30.
As you know, All Saints is growing! We are delighted to welcome new students, families, and staff members to our school community. I’ll introduce our new teachers in August, but today we welcome Mrs. Maggie Detwiler, who joined us a few weeks ago! Mrs. Detwiler is very excited to join the ASCA family as our new Assistant Principal and Junior High science and religion teacher. She has taught junior high math, science, English, and religion at St. Irene Catholic School since 2003 and served as the principal there since 2014. She brings a passion for the Catholic faith and strong academic leadership. I am delighted to add her to my administrative team. Please welcome her to our community!
Look for an important email from Patty Bajek coming soon regarding SchoolSpeak access. By July 30th, every family needs to log in to SchoolSpeak and complete the information outlined in her upcoming communication.
All Saints is also excited to announce a new after care provider! This year, after care services will be provided by Children’s Choice, a new company with close ties to RLS Tutoring, our previous provider. All rates and hours of operation will be the same as last year. You can learn more about Children’s Choice by clicking here. We are also trying to get a better idea of how many students to expect in after care this year. Please click here to complete a BRIEF survey regarding your after care needs. Registration materials will be shared in early August.
As you are planning your calendars for the coming school year, please note that All Saints will be having an early release (1:00 pm) for all students once per quarter this year. After student dismissal, the teachers will use this valuable time to analyze student data, plan curriculum, and collaborate with colleagues. As educators, we are lifelong learners. This time for faculty collaboration allows us to improve our practice and continue to provide an excellent education to each of your children. Please plan to pick up your students at 1:00pm on the following Wednesdays: October 6, December 1, January 26, and May 11. After care will be available from 1-4 pm on these days.
Don’t forget to turn in your updated medical forms, including sports physicals! Click here for more information on what is required at each grade level. All forms can be sent to our nurse Mrs. Fuller at sfuller@ascacademy.org.
We’ll continue to share updates over the next few weeks as all our plans for the start of school are finalized. We are looking forward to a great year together!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
