Saints Speak - 5/18/2023 - Actions Speak Louder than Words
Please take a few minutes to reflect on today’s quote from Pope Francis:
“We have to remember all those who feel unloved, who have no hope for the future and who have given up on life out of discouragement, disappointment, or fear.
We have to learn to be on the side of the poor, and not just indulge in rhetoric about the poor! Let us go out to meet them, look into their eyes and listen to them.”
If I were asked to simplify Pope Francis’s message here, I would simply state that actions speak louder than words. If we practice what we preach, we can do great things in this world.
2nd Annual Golf Outing
The All Saints 2nd Annual Golf Outing on Monday was a beautiful day full of fellowship, fundraising, and support for our school! Thank you to all who helped out and all who played. We are especially grateful to the Golf Outing Committee led by John Corradetti and Wayne Klein - thank you for all your efforts to make the day a success!
2023-2024 Planning
May is a busy month at school as we not only have many end of year events for our current students but also are planning for the upcoming year. Part of that planning includes setting the budget and tuition rates for next year. Our 2023-2024 budget has recently been approved by our Finance & Operations Committee, Board of Directors (School Board) and Executive Board (comprised of the pastors of our sponsoring parishes, Diocesan CFO, and Superintendent of Catholic Schools). The approved tuition rates for next year include a 5% increase to keep up with rising expenses. All fees for next year will be the same.
I’m also excited to share that our approved budget provides a salary enhancement for our teachers of 10% above the Diocesan salary scale! We will fund this enhancement using part of the funds raised at this year’s DDA, and the remainder of the funds raised are being invested to support teacher salary enhancements in future years. Thank you again to each and every one of you who contributed to this fund. Our current teachers feel valued and appreciated, and the salary enhancement assists with recruiting and retaining excellent educators aligned to our mission.
ASCA will be a busy place this summer, as we have several campus improvement projects and system upgrades in the works.
- The next phase of our recess pad improvements will begin June 5th as we repair and replace another section of concrete. Thanks to the generous donation of one of our new ASCA families, we will also be adding a Gaga Ball Pit to the recess pad!
- Some of you may remember that the 2020 DDA’s Fund-A-Need raised funds for security improvements. At that time we added additional security cameras and installed security film on all school entrances. This summer, we will be adding security film to all first floor external windows and all indoor windows (such as the windows next to the classroom doors). Security film provides an additional layer of protection for our students and staff by making it more difficult to penetrate the glass.
- Our phone system will be upgraded this summer, replacing our dated system with more modern and reliable technology for internal and external communications.
- The Diocese of Joliet is transitioning away from SchoolSpeak to a new Student Information System (SIS), FACTS. As you know, we already use FACTS for our tuition management needs. The FACTS SIS has been identified as a more user-friendly system for school staff and parents and will communicate directly with the tuition management portal to make it easier to pay for things like hot lunch and school events. We are in the process of transferring data to FACTS and setting up the new system. Administrative staff will undergo training over the summer, followed by training for teachers in August. We will share more information with families on how to use the FACTS SIS when the system goes live in early August.
