Saints Speak - 10/7/2020 - Time to Celebrate

You’re receiving Saints Speak a day early this week as we prepare for a 5-day weekend. Like our faculty, staff, and students, I imagine many of you are looking forward to the long weekend and to a break from your daily routines. The weather forecast looks great; I hope your family is able to enjoy some time outside in the sunshine and warm weather!

As we move into the weekend, it’s important for us all to remember to maintain our COVID safety precautions despite the change in routine. I know many use these long weekends as an opportunity to travel and visit family, and it’s easy to let our guard down when we are seeing new people or visiting new places.

However, we have been able to successfully and safely stay in school these last seven weeks as a direct result of our procedures and protocols. If you are traveling this weekend or spending time with people outside your typical circle, thank you in advance for continuing to practice all best practice COVID precautions, including mask-wearing, social distancing, and additional sanitization. We must work together to continue to keep each member of our school community safe.

Together we can!

When we return from the long weekend, I know the majority of our students will begin looking forward to the next big holiday on their calendars.......…Halloween!  While Halloween, like everything else in 2020, will look differently this year, we still plan on celebrating and making it a special day for our students.

Our school Halloween celebrations will take place on Friday, October 30. Students will be allowed to dress up in costumes as they have in the past. Please remember that weapons, makeup, and masks (other than our standard daily masks) are not allowed.

In place of traditional room parties led by room parents, our teachers will be organizing classroom celebrations for the students at each grade level. Look for more information from your homeroom teachers on what to expect regarding costumes and class celebrations in the coming weeks. Due to COVID restrictions, students will not be allowed to distribute candy or treats to one another. Instead, ASPA (our All Saints Parent Association) has graciously agreed to provide each child with a prepackaged Halloween treat that day.

Thank you, ASPA!

In addition to wearing costumes, this year we invite each student to get creative and participate in our MASK CONTEST! Students may decorate a face mask (one that covers their mouth and nose like we wear each day) to match their costume or show their Halloween spirit. Prizes will be given for the most creative mask designs. I can’t wait to see what incredible ideas our students will come up with!

As we continue to look forward, please mark your calendars for parent-teacher conferences on Thursday, November 5th. Conferences will be held virtually this year, and we will share more information next week about how to sign up and what to expect. The teachers are looking forward to connecting with each of you to discuss your child(ren)’s progress!

Lastly, take a few minutes to review a newsletter from our Student Support team. They will provide a brief monthly newsletter with helpful tips for you to support your children’s learning at home.  Click here for the October newsletter.

Enjoy the long weekend, and be well!

Warm regards,

Margie Marshall
