Saints Speak - 6/1/2023 - The End of a Great Year
Please take a few minutes to reflect on today’s quote from Pope Francis:
“True love is both loving and letting oneself be loved. It is harder to let ourselves be loved than it is to love.”
What a great message to us from Pope Francis for our final Saints Speak of the school year, as he reminds us of what true love means and how it involves opening up our hearts and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable. As we end this school year and begin our summer, may we be examples of Christ’s love in the ways we love those we encounter and let them love us in return.
Last Day of School
Today’s Olympic Field Day activities are off to a great start! Thank you to all the parent volunteers and our specials teachers who are helping. We appreciate you!
Tomorrow is our last day together this school year! We invite you to join us for Mass at 8:15am, and then students will return to their homerooms for report card distribution and 9:30am dismissal. This is a dress UP day, so students may dress in nice clothes or their school uniform (uniform shorts or nice shorts are okay for today). There is no after care today, so if you are unable to join us for Mass please still plan to pick up your child(ren) at 9:30am.
Summer Hours
Next week, our office will begin summer hours – we are open Monday-Thursday, 9am-12pm. The welcome desk is not staffed during the summer, so if you stop by please come to Door 7 (around the back of the building, near the electronic sign). You may also reach our admin team via email throughout the summer. Teachers only check their email periodically during the summer, so if you email them please be patient as a response will take longer than usual.
Preparing for Fall: Summer Reading and School Supply Lists
Summer is a time for rest and relaxation, but it’s important to keep learning as well! Summer Reading lists and guidelines are available here:
Save yourself the trouble of back to school shopping by ordering a school supply kit through School Tool Box! Click here for more information. The supply lists can be viewed here if you prefer to purchase yourself over the summer.
Saintly Acts
Congratulations to the students who earned Saintly Acts this week: Patrick M. (4th grade), Nathan E. (4th grade), Ian M. (4th grade), Mark T. (4th grade), and all of 4B. Thank you ALL for being saintly this year, and especially for all your saintly acts that were not recognized by a staff member. These acts of kindness, great and small, are so appreciated by those they benefit and by our entire school community.
Thank you!
Thank you for your partnership this year and for entrusting your children to us. It has been a fantastic school year, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to spend these days with your children! I pray that you have a restful, rejuvenating, and fun summer with your family, and we look forward to your return in August. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns over the summer, and we will be in touch periodically with updates in preparation for the fall. Please take a moment for this end of year prayer:
At the end of this school year we give thanks to God
For all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our school,
Both in and out of the classroom,
For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced,
For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed,
For the respect and care that has been given.
We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown,
For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles,
For the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days,
And for the love that has kept us going.
We give thanks for the community that we are, and we ask you Lord,
Bless our students. May Your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness.
Bless our families as we begin summer, and may our time together leave us with memories to cherish.
Pour out Your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
God bless you!
