Saints Speak - 5/4/2023 - A Call to Action

It's finally beginning to feel like May; we pray this beautiful weather continues!

Please take a few minutes to reflect on today’s quote from Pope Francis:

“We cannot keep ourselves shut up in parishes, in our communities, when so many people are waiting for the Gospel!”

What a call to action this is! Each Sunday at Mass we are told to go in peace, to go out and tell the Good News. Pope Francis is echoing that call here and reminding us that as Christians we must do more than pray but also must act in a way that is reflective of Christ’s message. Jesus Christ will be with each of us as we do His work and share His love!

Thank You!

It has been a wonderful week to celebrate our teachers! Thank you to each and every one of you for your kindness, generosity, and support throughout Teacher Appreciation Week. The faculty and I have felt so loved and supported. We are blessed to work with so many great families here at All Saints!

Thank you as well to all who joined us yesterday evening for the International Rosary. It was a beautiful occasion to pray together as a school community. We look forward to more family prayer opportunities in the coming school year!

Looking Ahead: Field Day

ASCA Field Day for our 1st-7th grade students will be on Thursday, June 1st, our last full day of school. This year, Field Day will be Olympic-themed! Students should wear their color wars color and bring a water bottle, towel, and sunscreen with them for the day. We are in need of parent volunteers to ensure the day goes smoothly for all. Please click here to sign up to help. Thank you!

Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program (Empower Illinois)

There’s still time to show your support for the Invest in Kids program! If this program sunsets, it will have a negative impact on several families here at ASCA, but more importantly, it could lead to the closing of several Catholic schools in our Diocese who rely on these scholarships to keep their doors open. Take just two minutes now to contact your legislator and express your support for the program!

Supporting Waterleaf

If you haven’t already done so, there is still time to contribute to Waterleaf Women’s Center! Our virtual baby bottle collection goes until Mother’s Day. Click here for more information. You can contribute online, send a check to school, or send in gift cards for Walmart or Target. Please keep Waterleaf and the families they support in your prayers!

Upcoming Parish Event

You are invited to a special Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle for the feast of St. Dymphna on Monday, May 15th, at 7:00pm. St. Dymphna is the patron saint of anxiety and mental health. The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will also be offered during Mass.

Saintly Acts

Congratulations to the students who earned Saintly Acts this week: Lilly H. (6th grade), Matheos F. (Kdg), Norah G. (5th grade), Billy M. (5th grade), Lucas L. (6th grade), Nathaniel T. (6th grade), Kayden K. (6th grade), Caden G. (Kdg), William S. (Kdg), Brooks W. (Kdg), and Monroe M. (Kdg). Keep being saintly!

Enjoy the sunshine today!
