Another New School Year
This is the first official Saints Speak of the new school year. Typically Saints Speak is sent on Thursdays, but I'm sending a day early to make sure everyone is ready to go for Friday's Meet & Greet and the first day of school. Please be sure to read it each week so you are up to date on school policies, procedures and happenings to ensure your child has the best possible school experience.
Meet & Greet
We look forward to seeing you all for Meet & Greet Friday afternoon from 3-5pm! Please enter at Door 1. We will gather in the gym and begin with a short prayer service. After the prayer service, families can
- Visit teachers in classrooms and drop off supplies (Grades 1-8; PK & Kdg families should hold supplies until next week)
- Enjoy a treat from the Kona Ice truck
- Purchase Spirit Wear from Deb’s Embroidery
- Meet the Preschool & Kdg teachers at a table near Door 7
- Visit the cafeteria to learn more about our extracurricular offerings, including Athletics
- Donate a box of cereal to Loaves & Fishes
- Play with friends on the playground and recess pad
Next Week
School begins next week on Tuesday, August 18th! If you haven’t already done so, please be sure to review the arrival and dismissal procedures in the Parent-Student Handbook (p. 17-20) and last week’s email. We know these procedures take a little longer the first few weeks of school as everyone adjusts, so thank you in advance for your patience as new families learn the routines and returning families readjust to the routines.
- Tuesday, August 18th: First Day of School for 1st-8th grade! All students should be in uniform today. Students will dismiss at 11:30am; there is no lunch, bus service or after care today. Before care is available beginning at 7am. Kindergarten Orientation is also today; please see the email sent to Kindergarten families on July 13th about this.
- Wednesday August 19th: Preschool Mom, Dad, and Me; please see the email sent June 2nd for details. Bus service and after care will begin today. Please be sure to pack your child lunch for today; hot lunch begins next week. Today is also the First Full Day for K-8.
- Thursday, August 21st: First Day of Preschool
- Friday, August 22nd: Join us for our first school Mass of the year at 8:15am. RSVP here if you plan to join us!
Kindergarten Orientation & Preschool Mom, Dad, and Me
Since these events take place when school is in session, all parents attending with their children will get visitor badges. Please bring your photo ID with you so we can check you into our Raptor system and print your visitor badge as quickly as possible. Thank you!
Uniform Reminders
If you have any questions on uniform expectations, please review pages 27-31 of the Handbook. All nail polish should be removed before the first day of school, hair should be its natural color, and boys’ hair should be cut to above the collar and out of eyes. Thank you for revisiting these expectations with your child before Tuesday!
Lunch Volunteers
We are looking for lunch and recess volunteers to assist our teachers and staff. If you are able to commit to help one or more days per week, 10:45am-12:15pm, please click here to sign up (or visit the table in the cafeteria at Meet & Greet to sign up in person). If you can’t volunteer consistently but would be able to help out as a sub, we have places to sign up for that too. This is a great opportunity to see your child during the day and be involved in our school community. As a reminder, all volunteers must complete the requirements in Virtus. Thank you for considering!
If you plan to volunteer for lunch recess or in another capacity, make sure you complete your volunteer requirements! These are required of all school volunteers. Some things need to be updated annually, so even if you volunteered last year, log into your Virtus account and make sure all requirements are up to date before next week!
Back to School Forms
We are still missing FACTS forms from a handful of families. Please complete these today! I have sent individual emails to families with missing forms and will reach out directly again on Friday morning if items are still missing. It is very important to have these in this week so we have time to sort the data and get information to classroom teachers before Tuesday.
Extracurricular Activities
In case you missed it last week, click here for more information on our extracurricular clubs and activities!
I look forward to seeing many of you Friday!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
