Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 5/14/2026 - The Busyness of May

Thank you!

On Monday we had our 5^th Annual ASCA Golf Classic! It was a beautiful day and a great fundraiser for the school. Thank you to John Corradetti, Wayne Klein, and our entire committee of volunteers for planning such a great event. Thank you to all who attended or supported the outing in some capacity. We will share financial results as soon as they are available. 

End of Year Reminders

As we approach the end of the year, I know students (and teachers!) are anxious for summer vacation. During these last two weeks, please remind your children that we are continuing to learn, try our best, and most importantly, treat everyone with respect. Following the rules and expectations helps ensure we can all finish the year in a positive way!

These last ten days are quite busy! Tomorrow is our 2^nd grade First Communion Mass. We look forward to celebrating our most recent First Communicants. We will also honor our 8^th graders tomorrow afternoon at our 8^th grade Awards Ceremony.

Next week is busy with events for our soon-to-be graduates. Please keep the 8^th grade class in your prayers as we travel to downtown Chicago on Tuesday for Bueller Day, celebrate their last school day together Wednesday with the Baccalaureate Mass, graduation breakfast, and yearbook signing party, and then send them off as graduates with our Mass and Commencement Ceremony on Thursday evening. It will be an exciting week celebrating the Class of 2026!

Our preschool and kindergarten students will also celebrate their last day of school on Friday, May 22^nd.  Preschool and Kindergarten families, consider joining us for Mass that morning, your child’s last school Mass of the year!

In next week’s Saints Speak I’ll highlight what to expect for the week of May 25^th, our last week of school for our 1^st-7^th grade students.

Spring I-Ready Scores

Spring I-Ready testing is complete, and paper copies of your child’s scores will be coming home by the end of the week. If you have questions about your child’s test results, please contact his/her classroom teacher. 

I-Ready MyPath (the personalized instruction component) will be available to students throughout most of the summer, until July 22^nd. At that time i-Ready accounts will be disabled for maintenance to prepare rosters for the new school year. Your child’s teacher will contact you if i-Ready is required for the summer. For grades where it is not required, it is still a great resource to keep skills fresh over the summer break!

School Supplies for 2026-2027

Save time this summer by ordering your school supplies in advance! Order your kit from School Toolbox, and it will be in the classroom ready for your child on the first day of school. Orders must be placed by June 21^st in order to be shipped to school; any orders placed after that will be shipped directly to your home.

If you prefer to purchase supplies yourself, we will have the PDF lists available before the end of the school year.

Curriculum Update

At All Saints we follow a curriculum review cycle, so each year we focus on a different subject area and review various curricular programs and materials to ensure ours is the best fit for our students’ academic needs. This year, our faculty reviewed several math programs and ultimately decided to continue using Everyday Math. We will be updating to the most recent copyrights of Everyday Math, so materials may look slightly different, but content will be consistent with past years. At the Kindergarten level, we will be adding a resource from Progress in Mathematics, which offers more rigorous and engaging math instruction at this level. Additionally, we will be incorporating the Rocket Math program to reinforce math fact fluency, which is not emphasized in Everyday Math as much as we feel is necessary for our students’ success. We believe that Rocket Math’s emphasis on fact fluency will complement Everyday Math’s strong problem-solving base to help our students continue to thrive in mathematics!

Science Fair

We just learned that another one of our students, Stephen Van Dyke, was also a Thermo Fischer Nominee. Congrats Stephen! We are proud of ALL our students but especially proud to share that two of our students earned this prestigious honor, awarded to the top 10% of middle school science fair projects in the country!
