Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 4/23/2026 - We Are Instruments of God
Our saint this week is St. Teresa of Calcutta, and our holy habit is humility. Even though she passed away almost 30 years ago, St. Teresa has always seemed like a “modern” saint to me, perhaps because she was alive during my childhood and I remember hearing stories about the incredible work she did. I was in awe of Mother Teresa, who dedicated her life to serving the poor and did so much for so many people. What I find most inspiring, however, is how she lived with incredible humility, always crediting God for what He did working through her. I shared this quote from St. Teresa with the teachers earlier this week:
I don’t claim anything of the work. It’s his work. I’m like a little pencil in his hand. That’s all. He does the thinking. He does the writing. The pencil has nothing to do with it…he is using others as instruments – all our Sisters. None of us could produce this. Yet see what he has done.
St. Teresa reminds us that we are instruments of God, and He is doing great things through us. We cannot do any of it without Him!
Diocese of Joliet Survey Update
Thank you to all who participated in the Diocesan School Effectiveness Survey! We greatly appreciate your feedback. Survey results were discussed at our most recent Board of Directors, Faculty, and Executive Board meetings. Our focus is always on continuous improvement, and these results are used to inform our planning for the coming school year and beyond.
Here are a few highlights from this year’s survey:
- 104 parents and 50 staff members completed the survey (similar to last year)
- The top 3 reasons families choose All Saints, in order, are religious/moral foundation, overall academic excellence, and individual attention given to each child.
- The survey company, Qualtrics, provides a Net Promoter Score (NPS) based on the question asked of how likely families are to recommend All Saints to a friend. This year our NPS is 73, which is up from a score of 67 last year and higher than the Diocesan average of 62.
Thank you for your feedback!
Book Fair Update
We had a very successful Book Fair last week! Sales totaled $12,934, surpassing our goal of $12,000. The students earned an Out of Uniform day as a reward for surpassing the goal. All students may be out of uniform on Tuesday, April 28th!
i-Ready Testing
Next week, students will complete their third and final round of i-ready diagnostic testing. Students cannot study for these tests, but they can “prepare” by arriving on time to school after eating breakfast and getting a good night’s sleep. All students should have headphones with them for the test, and 5th-8th grade students should make sure their Chromebook is charged.
As soon as all students have completed testing and teachers have had a chance to review the results, we will share those results with you.
