Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 9/4/2025 - Learning More About the Saints

This week we began our weekly focus on a saint, but we are doing something different this week before we jump into our saints book because of special events happening in the Church. There are two men being canonized as saints this weekend – Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati! This week the children are learning more about these two individuals and how they modeled love and service in their lives. Pier Giorgio Frassati was an athlete and a “regular” kid in many ways, but he also lived out the Beatitudes by caring for the poor and sick in his community. Carlo Acutis will be the first millennial saint, so it’s not surprising that he is also becoming known as the patron saint of technology.  He was excellent with technology but also practiced moderation and appropriate use. I challenged the students to reflect on how they use technology. Even as adults, it’s important for us to reflect on our technology use. Are we using tech to make the world a better place and spread God’s love? If not, what’s one small change we can make toward this goal?

Mass & Eucharistic Adoration

We hope you’ll join us for Mass tomorrow morning at 8:15am, led by our 7th graders. Our presider will be Fr. Peter Infanger from St. Thomas the Apostle. If you plan to attend, RSVP using this link by noon today to help your morning arrival go more smoothly. If it’s a last minute decision, that’s okay too. You are always welcome and we appreciate your patience with our enhanced safety procedures.

Tomorrow is the first Friday of the month and our first day of Eucharistic Adoration for the school year. If you join us for Mass in the morning, please help us practice reverence at the end of Mass, as the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the chapel at that time. Throughout the day, our students will have an opportunity to pray in Adoration in the chapel. We are grateful to be able to come together in this way as a school community!

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Please, PLEASE continue to use both doors for drop off, going to the shorter line to avoid traffic buildup. The line for Door 7 is often shorter since it opens earlier and we can unload more cars there; please use it! Even if you plan to attend Mass, you can drop off at Door 7 and then circle back around to park your car by Door 1. Remember to pull all the way forward, especially at Door 7, where the first car should be all the way at the northern edge of the safety zone. At Door 7, do not unload behind the electronic sign. If you need to help littles out of the car, please wait until you can pull forward to one of the front spots at either door so the line can continue to move. If your child is able to unbuckle themselves, please remain in the car and let them get out on their own. This helps build independence and actually goes faster once they learn the routine and expectations!

At dismissal, if you are using the car line at Door 7, please remember that we begin with two lanes of traffic and then the lanes merge by Door 5, at the northernmost point of campus, to form one line around the safety zone. Please be respectful to your fellow ASCA families, taking turns and letting cars merge here.

Picture Day

Picture Day is Wednesday, September 10th. Students may be photographed in their school uniform or in an out of uniform outfit. This is the only opportunity to purchase school pictures, so we leave this choice up to you. If your child is out of uniform for pictures, please make sure the outfit is school-appropriate. If your child wears their regular school uniform for pictures on Wednesday, they may wear their Spirit Wear shirt on Thursday instead.

After photos are taken, you will receive an email with information to view your child’s photo and place your order.

Fall Sports Photos

All fall athletes (volleyball, cross country, flag football) will be photographed after school on Thursday, September 11th, in McSherry Hall. Students may wear their athletic uniforms to school on Thursday to avoid having to change after school. Girls must wear sweatpants over their spandex shorts. Please refer to the email from athletics for more information.

Trivia Night

ASCA is excited to host Trivia Night on Friday, September 26th! Refer to the email sent earlier this week for more information, or click here to register your team today!
