Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 12/9/2021 - The Week Ahead
This week the students have spent some time focusing on Mary, our mother. Yesterday we celebrated mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the Gospel we heard about how the angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her that she would bear a son, Jesus. While this was certainly not part of Mary’s plan at that time, she trusted in God and prepared herself to become the mother of Christ. During this season of Advent, may we all continue to prepare our hearts for Christ and follow His will even when it may differ from what we planned or expected for ourselves.
Please consider joining us for mass tomorrow (8:15am) in recognition of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is on Sunday. We are no longer requiring parents to sign up in advance to attend our weekly masses; just remember your mask and enter at Door 1!
Next week, our last week of school before Christmas break, is a busy one! Make sure you have the following on your calendars:
- Monday: Winter Sports Pictures after school (3:30-5pm) – 5 th -8 th grade basketball players may wear their basketball uniforms to school, with sweatpants over their shorts. We plan to go outside for recess each day, so pants MUST be worn over their shorts!
- Tuesday: Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest – students may be out of uniform if they wear Christmas sweaters or red/green. There will be prizes for the best ugly sweaters!
- Wednesday: Preschool Christmas Concerts 8:30 & 9:00am (for PK parents only) – see your teachers’ emails for details!
- Thursday: Out of Uniform Thursday for 7 th grade Class of 2023 Fundraiser. K-5 Christmas Concert 6:30pm in the gym (students should arrive at 6pm) – Due to space limitations we can accommodate two guests per family in person. See Mrs. Wynne’s email from last week for details on what to wear. Click here for the livestream link.
- Friday: School mass 8:15am – K-5 students should be in uniform. PK class parties are at 10am; K-5 class parties are at 2:15pm; 6-8 Dance begins at 2pm. Junior high students may wear their uniforms or DRESS UP on this day. If they dress up (no jeans, no sweatpants), all standard out of uniform rules should be followed (skirts of an appropriate length; no gym shoes for mass; no spaghetti straps or strapless dresses; leggings only allowed with a long tunic; no ripped pants). If girls choose to wear high heels, we recommend bringing a more comfy pair of shoes to change into if needed. This is a full day with our regular dismissal time.
Last week, Mrs. Bajek sent an email about re-enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year. If you are planning to return, you don’t need to do anything – you will automatically be re-enrolled! Please refer back to that email if you have any questions about the enrollment process and what to expect.
As we prepare for the enrollment season, I also want to make you aware of opportunities for financial assistance. Click here for more information on financial aid opportunities available from the Diocese as well as the Tax Credit Scholarship program (Empower Illinois). These deadlines are important, so if you are in need of assistance make sure you pay close attention to the posted deadlines!
In the next day or two, you will be receiving mail from ASCA in the form of our Annual Appeal letter. Your contribution to the appeal ensures the continued excellence of All Saints and helps us to fund various school needs, including academic enhancements, faculty development, classroom technology, supplies and equipment, and operating expenses. Every dollar raised is used to enrich the school and the lives of our students so that they may be the future Catholic leaders that our world so greatly needs. I hope that you will join me in supporting this year's appeal. Each contribution to the Annual Appeal, no matter how great or small, is affirmation of your belief in our mission. Thank you for your consideration!
