Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 5/9/2024 - Conversion Gives Us Grace

I had some help in the office today, as 2nd grader Camila Gomez was our Principal for the Day! She helped with morning announcements, visited classrooms, played with the teachers in the students vs. staff dodgeball game, and even rewarded the students with a special treat – no homework tonight! Thanks Ms. Gomez for being a great leader today!

Please take a few moments to pray with today's quote from Pope Francis:

“What is conversion? It is asking the Lord for the grace not to speak ill, not to criticize, not to gossip, to love everyone. It is a grace which the Lord gives us. This is what it means to convert the heart.”

In a conversation with a student a few weeks ago, as we talked about making better choices and making an effort to use kind words, the student responded by saying that sometimes this is hard to do. The answer was so honest, because sometimes it is hard, especially when we are tired, when we are frustrated, or when we have others around us being unkind. Today's words from Pope Francis reminded me that while choosing to love everyone is hard at times, it’s a lot easier when we remember that we don’t have to do it on our own. If we ask God for his grace to help us, everything becomes a lot easier. May we all pray for God's grace today!

Thank you!

Thank you to all who helped make our teachers feel appreciated this week! The faculty and staff are grateful for the cards, gifts, treats from ASPA, lunch from Guzman y Gomez, coffee cart, and messages of kindness. We are blessed to work in such a wonderful community!

Field Day Thursday, May 30th

On Thursday, May 30th, our last full day of school for 1st-7th graders, we will once again have an Olympic-themed Field Day! We are looking for parent volunteers to help the day run smoothly. Click here to sign up to help. It’s always a fun day for kids and parents alike. As a reminder, volunteers must be in compliance with all Virtus requirements.

As you plan ahead for the day, students will wear a t-shirt in their class color (see list here), gym shoes, and bottoms of their choice. Students should bring a beach towel to sit on for an outdoor pizza lunch provided by ASPA. We will spend a lot of time outside that day, so water bottles, sunscreen, and a hat are highly encouraged.

Golf Outing

The third annual ASCA Golf Classic is this Monday, May 13th! We are looking forward to a great day at this sold out event supporting our school. Thank you to John Corradetti, Wayne Klein, and their crew of amazing volunteers who are making this day possible once again. Let’s pray for good weather!
