Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 3/10/2022 - Shining Bright This Saturday Night
I know you’ve heard this from me a lot recently, but we are so looking forward to celebrating with you all on Saturday at the DDA! Congratulations to the Chobar family, who will be arriving to the DDA in style – they are the lucky winners of a limo ride to and from the event!
If you aren’t able to join us in person, you can still participate from afar. Using the DDA website, you can purchase Instant Buys like the class parties and Break a Rule Day, and you can even bid on silent auction items virtually if you can’t be there in person. Thank you in advance for supporting All Saints and the 2022 Dinner Dance Auction!
In addition to a great night out for many on Saturday, we have an exciting weekend ahead for many of our student athletes as four of our basketball teams play for the championship! Best of luck to our 5A Boys, 6A Boys, 8A Girls, and 8A Boys teams. Go Saints!!
When we turn on the radio or TV, especially lately, we often hear stories of brokenness, pain, and destruction. We may ask ourselves what we can do to help in these situations that seem so much bigger than us. One of the most powerful tools we have to help improve our world is prayer. On Monday afternoon, we invite you to join us for a Prayer Service for Peace, which will be held in the gym at 2:45pm. Many of you are already in the car line at that time; put your car in park and come on in to join us! Jesus reminds us that “where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). We hope you’re gather with us to pray on Monday, or take a moment, wherever you are on Monday at 2:45pm, to pause and say a prayer for peace in our world.
A few of you have reached out about Lenten almsgiving. We are not doing a school-wide collection at this time but encourage you to support an organization of your choice. If you are looking to support those impacted by the war in Ukraine, consider doing so through Catholic Relief Services.
Earlier this week, Mrs. Detwiler and I attended a training, along with leaders throughout the diocese, focused on school safety planning. At All Saints, we have a comprehensive safety plan that we reevaluate regularly. The workshop provided a framework for us to review our current plan and make revisions as necessary. One component of the training discussed communication in the event of an emergency. As mentioned previously, we would like to be able to use the text message feature of SchoolSpeak to communicate with parents in an emergency or urgent situation. If you haven’t already done so, please log in to your SchoolSpeak profile, click on your login name in the top right corner, and select “My Profile.” As you scroll you’ll see a spot for your Mobile number and Mobile Carrier. Don’t forget to scroll to the bottom and click “Update” to save your information.
Our Lady of Mercy Parish invites you to join one of their upcoming Alpha family sessions to grow in your faith. Click here for more information; all are welcome and you do not have to be an OLM parishioner to attend!
