Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 1/6/2022 - Catholic Schools Week is Coming
We have had a great first few days back at school! Thank you to everyone for doing their part to keep us all healthy – encouraging proper mask wearing, keeping your child home if they have a COVID symptom, and sending your children dressed appropriately for the weather. January can be a challenging month, as we still have few hours of daylight combined with bitter cold. Luckily the school building is warm and our students and staff are shining bright! Plus, there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel…we end the month with one of my favorite weeks of the year, Catholic Schools Week!
For those of you who are familiar with All Saints and Catholic education, hopefully you’re just as excited as I am. For our new families, Catholic Schools Week is a week to celebrate all that makes our school special - our families, our staff, and most importantly, our students! We’re in the process of finalizing the week’s agenda, but your children can expect themed out of uniform days, special activities, and treats. Keep an eye out for the full weekly schedule coming soon.
There are two pieces of Catholic Schools Week that require your immediate attention. First, we kick off the week with an Open House for families that are interested in joining the All Saints family. This year’s Open House will be IN PERSON on Sunday, January 30th, 1-3pm. If you have a relative or neighbor who is newly ready for preschool or looking to transfer, encourage them to visit our Open House and hear more about our school! Interested families can sign up for a personalize Open House tour by visiting our website.
Second, this year's Catholic Schools Week t-shirt is now available for purchase! Students and faculty who purchase a shirt will be able to not only show off their school spirit, but also be Out of Uniform on a to-be-determined date during Catholic Schools Week. To order your CSW t-shirt, please complete this form or click here to order online. Orders must be placed by WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2022 by 3 PM. QUANTITIES ARE LIMITED! You do not want to miss out on this very cool, super soft, custom designed t-shirt. If you have any questions please contact erin.m.bayer@gmail.com.
As we enter the new year, our Board of Directors (formally known as the School Board) has an update to share. Click here for a brief newsletter from the Board!
On Monday, Mrs. Bajek sent an email to all families outlining financial assistance options for the 22-23 school year. If you haven’t read this email and are in need of financial assistance, please make sure you read it and pay attention to the deadlines. Of special importance is the upcoming date for Empower Illinois, the tax credit scholarship program. This process begins promptly at 6:30pm next Wednesday, January 12. Applications are time-stamped so it is important to apply right at 6:30pm to be at the top of the list. Visit empowerillinois.org for more information.
We are still in need of volunteers to assist with lunch and recess. If you are interested, please click here to sign up. Contact Cristine Shaw (cshaw@ascacademy.org) with any questions.
Congratulations and best wishes to 2nd grade teacher Ms. Colleen Catalano, who is getting married this weekend! We are very excited for the soon-to-be Mrs. Cappetta!
I’d like to recognize the students who earned Saintly Acts this week: Mia M. (Kdg), Liv G. (8th grade), Charlotte W. (1st grade), Josie C. (7th grade), Katie D. (7th grade), Ashley S. (5th grade), and Genevieve S. (1st grade). Keep being Saintly!
Warm regards,
Margie Marshall
