Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 1/18/2024 - Looking Out for the Good of Others

I hope everyone is warming up after the extremely cold weather earlier this week. Please take a few minutes to reflect on these words from Pope Francis today:

“We have observed that, in society and the world in which we live, selfishness has increased more than love for others, and that men of good will must work, each with his own strength and expertise, to ensure that love for others increases until it is equal and possibly exceeds love for oneself.”

May we be reminded by these words of the call to serve those around us, looking out for the good of others before ourselves.

Safe Environment Lessons

Next week, all classes will be completing the Diocese's required safe environment lessons during religion classes. Please click here for more information and to access the opt out form; you only need to return the bottom portion of the letter if you are choosing to "opt out" of the lessons. If you are interested in learning more about this Diocesan-provided program, please click here.

Promoting ASCA at Masses this weekend

This weekend we will be promoting our upcoming Open House at each of our parishes (with the exception of St. Elizabeth Seton, where we promoted it last weekend). Thank you to the parents and Student Ambassadors who are speaking at the parishes on our behalf! All students are encouraged to wear ASCA uniforms or spirit wear to Mass this weekend. Send us a picture of you at Mass or in from of your parish in your ASCA gear and you’ll receive an Out of Uniform Pass!

Internet Safety Presentations

We were grateful to have several agents from the Department of Homeland Security here at school yesterday to present the iGuardian internet safety program to our 4th-8th grade students. We are also considering an evening parent presentation in the future and would like to gauge interest before scheduling such an event. Please take this very brief survey to let us know if you would be interested in a parent presentation geared toward educating parents on keeping your children safe online.

Upcoming MAP Testing

Next week, students in Kindergarten-8th grade will take the second round of the NWEA MAP assessment. As a reminder, this is a computer-based assessment in math and reading. It is not timed, and there is no way to study for the test. It measures student progress and provides valuable information on student growth for teachers and parents. While this test should NOT be a source of stress, please remind your child to take the test seriously and do his/her best so the data is accurate and useful.

DDA Update: March 16th will be here soon!

Our 19th Annual Dinner Dance Auction is less than two months away! Make sure that you have secured your baby-sitter and purchased your mask so that you will be ready for March 16th! Ticket sales will be opening soon.

Just a few reminders as we look ahead for DDA:

  • Have you bought your Tuition Credit Raffle Ticket? Early bird drawing purchase date is January 31st to be considered for winning no fees for one of our children next year!
  • Have you bought your 50/50 Raffle Ticket?
  • Have you purchased your Saintly Spot? Due date is January 26th.
  • Do you have any baskets to donate for us to use to create our silent auction baskets?

Keep looking for more updates from the DDA team!

3rd Annual Golf Classic

Save the Date for the 3rd Annual ASCA Golf Classic on Monday, May 13th! Planning has begun, and we are looking for a few more individuals to join the committee. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact John Corradetti (jcorradetti@gmail.com) or Wayne Klein (wklein@kleinconstruction.com). Many hands make light work!

Finally, we are working on crediting families for the missed lunches on the two recent days off. The system is new so we appreciate your patience!
