Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 10/23/2025 - Sharing the Good News

Our saint this week is St. Mary Magdalene, and our virtue for the week is joy. Mary Magdalene was the first to truly “share the Good News” when she got to tell the other disciples that Jesus had risen. What a joyful experience! Her story reminds us that we can always find joy in Christ. Even when we see sadness, tragedy, and discord in the world, if we seek Jesus and keep Him at the center of our lives, we will find joy!

Parish Family Masses

It was great to see so many ASCA families at Mass last weekend at St. Elizabeth Seton, and I know Sr. Maria was happy to celebrate liturgy at Our Lady of Mercy as well. This Sunday we will be at St. Margaret Mary (11am) and St. Thomas the Apostle (11:15am). We hope to see you there, wearing your spirit wear or ASCA uniform!

Book Fair Update

The Book Fair is underway! Students are shopping today, and last call is tomorrow morning. If we reach our goal of $14,500 in sales, we’ll have a school-wide out of uniform day! The Book Fair will be open to parents for last-minute shopping immediately following Mass tomorrow. After Mass, please exit through the back door as normal and let me or Mrs. Tortorello know that you are going to the Book Fair.

Mass Visitors

If you are planning to join us for Mass tomorrow, click here to RSVP by noon today! Tomorrow is our last October Mass; I'll share the sign-up for November Masses next week.

Trunk or Treat

We look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday for Trunk or Treat, which will be in the main ASCA parking lot from 11am-1pm. Students are not allowed to distribute food/candy treats at school on Halloween, so Trunk or Treat is a great opportunity to decorate your trunk and pass out candy!

Safe Environment Lessons

During the week of November 3, all classes will be completing the Diocese's required safe environment lessons during religion classes. Please click here for more information and to access the opt out form; you only need to return the bottom portion of the letter if you are choosing to "opt out" of the lessons. If you are interested in learning more about this Diocesan-provided program, please click here.

All Saints Day

This year, All Saints Day falls on a Saturday, so we will celebrate this special day with Mass on Monday, November 3rd, at 8:15am. Please consider joining us as we gather in prayer, remembering the saints who have gone before us and led by their example of love.

November 3rd is also our 5th Annual Day of Giving! On this day we celebrate all that makes ASCA special – the students, teachers, parents, alumni, and friends of All Saints who support our mission and help build up our community. On this year’s Day of Giving, help us meet our $15,000 goal. Funds raised on the Day of Giving help us maintain and continue to improve our facilities, academic offerings, and school culture. Thank you for your consideration!

Athletics Update

Good luck to our 7th grade boys volleyball teams, who will BOTH be playing in the championship games this weekend! Boys 7B plays at St. Francis High School at 11:30am Saturday, and Boys 7A plays right after them, 12:45pm Saturday at St. Francis High School. Good luck, Saints!!

Diocesan News

As you’ve hopefully heard from your home parish, Bishop Hicks recently shared his new pastoral letter, MAKE, with the people of the Diocese of Joliet. If you haven’t yet read the letter, I encourage you to do so – click here! I will be attending a Diocesan implementation session alongside the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Parish next month and will share more following that session on how the letter impacts our school.
