Saints Speak - 1/19/2023 - Loving and Forgiving

Please take a few moments to reflect on today’s quote from Pope Francis:

“Let the Church always be a place of mercy and hope, where everyone is welcomed, loved, and forgiven.”

What a beautiful quote we have to reflect on today! I would assume that when Pope Francis said this, he was talking about the institution of the Church. However, when I read these quotes and pray with them, I always try to think about how they apply to me in my daily life. I’m reminded that WE are the church. We have set expectations for our institution, but we must also look at our own hearts. Are we welcoming? Loving? Forgiving? It begins with each one of us.

Mass with Bishop Hicks

As a reminder, next week’s schedule will be a little different as we welcome Bishop Hicks to celebrate Mass with us! This special liturgy will take place on Tuesday, January 24th, at 9:00am and will replace our usual Friday Mass next week. Parents are welcome as always!

This day was originally scheduled as an Out of Uniform Day for the Class of 2024 Fundraiser. We will be moving the Out of Uniform Day to Friday of next week (1/27). All students should be in perfect uniform for our Mass on Tuesday, 1/24.

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week is just a little over a week away! We’re so excited to celebrate all that makes ASCA and Catholic education special. Thanks to ASPA, Student Council, and our teacher committees we have some great treats, events, and theme days planned for the week. We are finalizing details now; look for an email early next week with the Catholic Schools Week agenda!

In preparation for this great week, we’ll be promoting ASCA at several of our parishes this weekend and next. Now is the time to show your school spirit at our weekend Masses! Attend one of the Masses below in your ASCA uniform or spirit wear and you can earn an Out of Uniform pass!

  • St. Elizabeth Seton: this weekend’s Mass times are Saturday 5pm or Sunday 8:30am, 10am, & 11:30am – take a picture of yourself at Mass in your ASCA gear and send to Mrs. Marshall!
  • St. Margaret Mary: this weekend’s Mass times are Saturday 5pm or Sunday 9am & 11am – ASCA students are invited to join the procession at the beginning of each Mass!
  • Our Lady of Mercy: this weekend’s Mass times are Saturday 4pm or Sunday 8am, 10am, 12pm, & 5:30pm – take a picture of yourself at Mass in your ASCA gear and send to Mrs. Marshall!
  • St. Thomas the Apostle: NEXT weekend (1/28-1/29) ASCA Masses will be Saturday 4:30pm (with Bishop Hicks) and Sunday 9:30am (ASCA students are invited to join the opening procession). Be sure to say hi to me or Sr. Maria!
  • Holy Spirit: this weekend’s Mass times are Saturday 4:30pm or Sunday 8am, 9:30am, & 11am – take a picture of yourself at Mass in your ASCA gear and send to Mrs. Marshall!

Lastly, our CSW celebration begins Sunday, January 29th, with our Open House! If you have a loved one, friend, or neighbor considering Catholic education for their child, encourage them to visit us! They may click here to sign up for a tour and learn more about ASCA.

DDA Update

Hopefully you saw the Great Gatsby Gazette on Tuesday! There was an error in the link; please use this link instead to access the DDA website and purchase your Tuition Raffle tickets! There are a few upcoming deadlines to know:

  • Cash donations will be accepted until next Friday, January 27th! This is a good way to cover your FFO and support the DDA.
  • Saintly Spots are due by Friday, January 27th! Don’t miss this chance to celebrate your student in a special way!

Congratulations to the following students who earned Saintly Acts this week: Luna T. (5th grade), Hayden D. (8th grade), Joe J. (8th grade), Simone D. (2nd grade), and Matthew G. (5th grade). Keep being saintly!
