Plunge into Fitness Challenge – Raging Waves

ASCA, along with many other schools in the area, will be teaming up with Raging Waves Waterpark in Yorkville, Illinois for their Plunge into Fitness challenge. All students at ASCA in K- 8th grade are invited to Plunge into Fitness this spring as Raging Waves Waterpark joins the battle against childhood obesity. The fitness initiative will run from February 17th through April 11th, and each child completing the program requirements during this seven-week period will receive a free Raging Waves full day admission pass valued at $28.  All K-8th grade students will receive a fitness log (extra fitness logs per grade level are available in the school office) from Mrs. Abrams the week of February 10th.  Starting February 17th students will color in one item on the fitness log for every 30 minutes of exercise.  After 25 hours have been logged, students can turn in their log sheet to Mrs. Abrams the week of April 11th.  Soon after, students will receive their free waterpark pass to be used this summer.  If you have any questions, please contact Carla Griffin at carla_griffin@ipsd.org.

D203 Busing Change

Please make a note on your upcoming calendars.  There will be no busing all day (to and from school) on Thursday, March 20, Friday, March 21 and Friday, March 28 for District 203 bus riders.  You will need to arrange for alternate transportation for your student on those particular days.  All other buses will be running.

ASCA Lenten Service Project

As we begin our Lenten journey today, All Saints students and their families will continue to support the Hogar del Pobre orphanage in Celaya, Mexico with almsgiving, prayer and sacrifice.  All Saints will be helping Hogar del Pobre, Mother Superior (Madre), and most importantly, the children of the orphanage with a clothing collection, as well as prayer for each of the children who are as young as newborn babies on up.  For most of the children at the orphanage, the clothing that they receive from All Saints students will be the only new outfit that they receive all year long.  In past years, All Saints families have generously been able to contribute over 700 pieces of clothing during the forty days of Lent.  We have attached a flyer to the end of this newsletter that outlines the details of the project.  The Lenten Service Project flyer will also be going home in hard copy to oldest and only students today, and be available at the school website.

All Saints has been very blessed to have had Mother Superior visit ASCA and celebrate mass with our students.  Having Madre visit All Saints, and being in the presence of someone who embodies and brings to life those children who we so want to help, is very humbling.  In looking outside of ourselves and in developing an awareness of others and their true needs, All Saints students learn and experience how it is to be Christ's loving hands and hearts when doing small things with great love!
