Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 9/30/2021 - Coffee and Chat

This morning we had a “Coffee & Chat” for new parents. It was a beautiful morning and so nice to see some of our new families and hear about your experiences thus far at ASCA! I love hearing the stories of new friends made, great classroom experiences, and children that are genuinely excited to come to school each day! We are delighted to have you as part of our school community and look forward to getting to know you better in the coming months.

Throughout the fall you’ll each be receiving a phone call from one of our School Board members. They will begin with new families and then call returning ASCA families as it gets closer to the holidays. The goal of these calls is to check in, answer any questions you have, and give you an opportunity to share your experiences. We look forward to these conversations; we care about your family and want you to be happy at All Saints!

Next week is a short week for students but a very busy week for teachers! Students will dismiss at 1pm on Wednesday for our first Early Release Day. After care will be available from 1-4pm. In the afternoon, teachers will take part in NWEA MAP training focused on analyzing this new assessment data and using it to inform classroom instruction. On Thursday and Friday, we will participate in virtual professional development with all teachers from the Diocese of Joliet. These days are a chance for teachers to share ideas with one another, learn new teaching strategies, and plan for how best to support your children. We are grateful for this time to collaborate and continue to grow as educators!

We are updating our emergency communication systems and would like to make use of the Text communication feature in SchoolSpeak. To do this, each parent needs to log in to their SchoolSpeak account and follow these simple steps to add your cell phone carrier:

  • Log in to your SchoolSpeak account.
  • In the top right corner, click on your username, and click “My Profile.”
  • Next to your cell phone number, choose your Carrier from the drop-down menu.
  • Click UPDATE at the bottom of the page.

We must have your cell phone carrier in order to use the Text Message communication feature in case of an emergency. Thank you!

We have had a very successful Book Fair this week! The fair concludes later this afternoon, so we will share final updates in the coming days, but we are very pleased with the Fair’s success so far. Students surpassed the goal of $5,000 and earned a schoolwide Out of Uniform Day for this Monday, October 4th. If we reach $10,000 in sales today, all students will also earn an extra recess. Thank you for supporting our Book Fair and fostering your child’s love of reading!

Save the Date for the 2022 Dinner Dance Auction (DDA)! Make sure you have reserved Saturday, March 12th on your calendar for a great evening IN PERSON at Bolingbrook Golf Club!  Please note, the date was wrong in last week’s Saints Speak but corrected in the Sunday reminders. The correct date is March 12th! Look for more information on this event over the next few months.

Charleston Wrap Update: The Charleston Wrap fundraiser was a great success! Families who participated raised nearly $15,000 toward their FFO. Thank you to Christy Stephan and Jessica Elliott for taking the lead in organizing this fundraiser!

We have some saintly students and staff to recognize today! Thanks to these students for receiving Saintly Acts this week: Bennett S. (4th grade), Hayden W. (2nd grade), Josie N. (1st grade), Jencarlo C. (6th grade), Maggie C. (6th grade), Britta H. (6th grade), Alex S. (7th grade), Dario M. (8th grade), Carlota G. (4th grade), Sashka K. (4th grade), Graham M.
