Camp Rock

Camp ROCK(Reaching Others for Christ’s Kingdom) is an overnight summer camp organized by John Lamperis, who is the Director of Religious Education at Holy Spirit.  This camp experience is for middle school students currently in grades 6 through 8.  The camp dates are June 12 – 15, and August 9 – 12, and will be held at the Dickson Valley Camp and Retreat Center in Newark, IL.  Not only will campers enjoy all of the typical camp activities, such as swimming, canoeing, archery, campfires, hiking, sports, music, skits and crafts; campers will have wonderful opportunities of prayer and worship that will help them to grow closer to Jesus and their Catholic faith.  The Camp Rock informational flyer can be found at the ACSA website, or by going to the following link:  http://www.camprock.me/flier.pdf.  Contact John at (630) 846-0688, or john@camprock.me with any questions.

Summer Reading List

The summer reading lists (Gr. K-5 Summer Reading List and JH Summer Reading List) can be found at the school website.   Please note that there have been some changes in the junior high academy lists.  Each class has a reading expectation for the summer. Please have your child read regularly ….as opposed to waiting till the weekend before school starts!  And don’t limit yourself to the requirements.

Special School Supply Information for Jr. High Students

There is a required TI-30X IIS calculator for 6, 7 and 8th graders.  If you need to purchase one, it is listed as a separate item from the grade level school supply kits.  Scroll down the page until you find it and add it to your order.

Zip Zap Zop

Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center is presenting Zip Zap Zop, a Social Skills Summer Camp for grades 3-5 and 6-8, July 21-24, 2014 from 9:00am-10:30am, in partnership with Artful IMPACT! at the School of Performing Arts.  Students will dive into the art of social thinking through improvisation, acting and movement. Learning “in the moment” is an excellent confidence builder, promoting life-long skills and building healthy and rewarding social relationships.  Zip Zap Zop information is available at the school website.

Play in the Park Dates

It was wonderful to see so many of you last night at our first Play in the Park event at Commissioners Park. Even though the temperature was toasty, there was a light breeze, some shade to cool us off, and a lovely opportunity to connect with each other - parents and children alike.

There are three Play in the Park events remaining on our summer schedule:

Tuesday, July 15 at 5 pm at Nike Park, 288 West Diehl Road

Saturday, August 2 at 10 am at Knoch Park, 724 South West Street

Saturday, August 9 at 10 am also at Knoch Park (Kindergarten families only)

All of these parks are located in Naperville.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (630) 961-6125 or pbajek@ascacademy.org. Our New Family Welcome Team is also a resource that I encourage you to reach out to and to use. They can be contacted via email at ascamentor@gmail.com.
