Saints Speak

From Mrs. Santos

September 7, 2016

Schools could not run without these individuals.  Students, teachers and staff members are always happy to see them.  Imagine any school event, field trip, or lunch/recess if they were missing.  Who are these people?  Why, volunteers of course

We love our volunteers at ASCA.  Moms, dads, guardians, grandparents – they help make All Saints a special place.  Did you know that –

  • Out of concern for the safety and well-being of children, every diocesan, parish, school or religious education employee or volunteer who is involved with minors on a regular, recurring basis, and those who may have an opportunity to be alone with children during parish, school or religious education sponsored events, are required to attend a Virtus Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program.Protecting God’s Children is offered at no cost to individuals at locations throughout the Diocese of Joliet, and takes approximately two to three hours of your time to complete.

  • To find out more about how to sign up for a PGC class, please go to the ASCA website at http://www.ascacademy.org/Portals/0/PGC%20Instructions.pdf.  Here, you will also find out more about the additional required paperwork and background check.

Please note that all volunteer paperwork and background checks need to be re-executed every 5 years for active volunteers.

SO, if you are interested in playing a volunteer role in any capacity, please sign up for a PGC class TODAY at https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_list2.cfm?theOrgID=17156&theme=0

Also, please turn in your PGC certificate AND required paperwork (can be found at http://www.ascacademy.org/Portals/0/PGC%20Paperwork.pdf) ASAP.

Maryanne Higdon will be happy to help you with any questions.  She can be reached at mhigdon@ascacademy.org or (630) 961-6125.

Photo/Image Release Consent

There are a number of ways in which your child’s image could potentially be used at All Saints.  A bright pink colored Consent to Release Photo/Image form is being sent home with all students today.   We ask that you return the signed and dated form for each of your ASCA students to the school office by Monday, September 12.

If you have any questions, please contact Patty Bajek at pbajek@ascacademy.org.

Fall Picture Day

Fall Picture Day is scheduled on Monday, September 12th for Pre K through Grade 8, and on Tuesday, September 15 for preschool students not here on Mondays.   Students will be in uniform for this picture, and all students will be photographed.

The Lifetouch form with information about the optional purchase of additional photos is being sent home with all students today.

Headset Purchases

We have received notice from our vendor that the headset delivery has been delayed.    We have been taking preorders, and will continue to process your order at this time, which will be given to your student when our shipment is received.  We expect the order to come in the near future, and all preorders will be filled first.  Until that time, students are welcome to bring a headset from home, or to have their student use the headsets available in the technology lab.  Please contact Maryanne Higdon at (630) 961-6125 or mhigdon@ascacademy.org with any order questions or to place an order.

YMCA Princesses Program

The YMCA Princesses Program (formerly known as Indian Princesses) is designed for Dads and Daughters (Grades K-4) to spend quality time together, and the Snowy Owls “Circle” in Naperville is inviting those interested to join its group.  The Circle participates in monthly activities that include campouts, ice-skating/tubing, YMCA events, canoeing, hiking, service projects, Rain Gutter Regatta, Christmas caroling, museum overnights, and participation in Naperville Parades.  For nearly 100 years, this Program has enabled both Dads and Daughters the opportunity to bond and create memories for a lifetime.  For more information, please contact school parent Carter Risdon (carter.risdon@gmail.com / 773-425-8102).  Carter can also connect families with sons to area Y Guides groups.
