Saints Speak - November 3, 2016

Saints Speak

From Mrs. Santos

November 3, 2016

The Place to Be

We have just been having a really fun time at All Saints lately.  There is an amazing feeling in the air.  We have seen staff, parents and volunteers rolling up their sleeves to create and execute new events, with something for everyone.  Trunk or Treat, the Junior High Hayride, Blue Out, the Halloween Parades and Parties, and our feast day celebration of All Saints Day are just a few examples.  We now have a student yearbook committee.  We even have a new Chess Club that has just formed.  It is awesome to be a Saint right now!

As principal, I have had the privilege to be a part of all of the fun lessons and activities that I have observed staff planning and teaching in our classrooms.  Our preschool seems to be on fire.  Conference time is a great time to catch up on all of the exciting things that have been happening, and to chart our course for the future.

We have been blessed with unseasonably perfect weather as of late, though we will be pushing our clocks back an hour this weekend.  With that, we know that there will be shorter days and colder weather soon to follow.  As a school community, let’s not let go of this big warm feeling of fun we have been enjoying, and all of the connections we have made with each other.  All Saints truly is a great place to be right now

Safe Touch Materials

Next week, K-8 students will begin safe touch instruction, an age appropriate Diocesan personal safety curriculum, in their health classes. The materials used will be available for parent review during parent teacher conferences near the main office.

Lost and Found Table

Please stop by the table outside the school office during conferences.  There are so many lovely things that are just waiting to be found.  As a reminder as the weather gets colder:  please label all of your child’s outerwear and accessories (hats, gloves and scarves) with their name.  If we find something that has a name, we will return it to that student.

Dinner Dance Auction

Saintly Spot Ad

Saintly Spots are “ads”, featuring your child that are placed in the Dinner Dance Auction Catalog.  These ads are a terrific way to celebrate your child’s Graduation, First Communion, Sports Team or Scouts Troop.  Is your child part of the ASCA band, choir or school musical?  Place a photo ad in the catalog! Multiple families can participate together.  The Saintly Spot ads will also be featured on the ASCA TV in the main floor hallway.  The students truly love seeing their accomplishments being recognized by the school!  The cost deadline for submission of the Saintly Spots is January 20, 2017.  Please see the Saintly Spot Ad Form for more information.  Thank you for your support of the Dinner Dance Auction!

Trunk or Treat Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to a very special group of volunteers who did an outstanding job in putting together one of the most fun afternoons ever at ASCA.  We also salute all of the trailblazing families who decorated their trunks, and who welcomed 100’s of excited, costumed trunk or treaters.  You are all AWESOME!

It was difficult for the judges with so many creative trunks.  The following prizes were awarded:

1st Place:  Colleen Rotkis (a special thank you to Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton for appearing)

2nd Place:  Molly Donovan (your trunk got us talking about having a Starbucks in our parking lot, yes?)

3rd Place:  The Coglianese Family (Dory and Nemo make us all want to live under the sea)

Rest assured, there will be a 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat next year.  Start planning your trunks now.
