Strength, Courage, Fortitude and Generosity
We have spent the better part of this school year studying a different virtue each week. We hope that our knowledge of and commitment to embodying the traits of these virtues will help to make us better people in our words and our actions. Sometimes, this is not easy and takes some work. But when it does work, it is truly heaven on earth.
This past weekend, I attended a basketball playoff game. Typically, All Saints would be playing another school like SS Peter and Paul or St. Michael. On this afternoon, however, All Saints was playing All Saints. One thing for certain, we all knew that All Saints was going to win and advance to the next round of playoffs. We also were aware that All Saints was also going to lose, with one team's season and championship dreams ending.
The game was a nail-biter, with the lead never more than 2 or 3 points for either team. Every spectator and fan was cheering for both teams equally - there was no favoritism or partisanship - only All Saints. A collective roar from the crowd accompanied every pass, shot and basket. Even though each team was fighting hard to win, there were high fives and "Great shot"s exchanged between the boys in white jerseys and those wearing blue. As the time ticked off the clock, and the game neared its inevitable conclusion, there was not a dry eye in the gym - tears of joy mixed with a little bit of sadness about the outcome. To see all of the players and coaches huddled up at the end really told the story of their journey.
On this chilly sunny Sunday, we celebrated an All Saints sports victory, to be sure. But the greater victory that is so sweet is in how the athletes and fans alike supported and cared about each other throughout the process. This is what we pray that our virtue study will plant in each of us - the ability to live out the virtues we have learned about. It is how Jesus wanted and wants us to treat each other. Thank you 7th grade students, athletes and parents for reminding us that we can.
Om a different note, our thanks to all of you who have been called to donate money to the Hogar del Pobre orphanage. Your generosity has made a substantial difference in the lives of others. Please know that every donation, no matter how large or how small is greatly appreciated. If you have not made a donation yet, we have a truly wonderful opportunity that has the potential to make a huge impact on our collections.
For all donations that are made on Friday, March 17, we have an anonymous donor who will match dollar for dollar, all donations that are brought in by students and/or staff!!!! WOW, WOW, WOW! That means that if you can donate $1, then it really counts as $2 for the orphanage. If you donate $3, then it counts for $6 (even for your class goals). This is a one day only match. If you planned on contributing to this Lenten Service Project, Friday, March 17 is the day!
Friday, March 17 - St. Patrick's Day, is double donation day for a good cause, the Hogar del Pobre orphanage. God bless you!

Lenten Rosary Prayer
All are invited to join us each Wednesday throughout the Lenten season for our Rosary prayer, which will be recited at 7:50 am prior to our school masses IN THE GYM. We pray for the intentions of Pope Francis, our school, our schools intentions and any you may wish to offer. You do not need to know the rosary. We offer cheat sheets and rosaries for any who need them. We are also very child and baby friendly! Please bring your younger children, visiting grandparents or friends for 15 minutes of prayer for our Pope, our children, teachers, administrators and loved ones. Second Annual STEM Fest at ASCA
Save the date and plan to attend our 2nd Annual STEM Fest on Monday, May 8 from 6:30 - 8 pm. ASCA's STEM enrichment program needs a few good parent scientists, chemists, mathematicians, bankers, nutritionists, orthopedists, chemical engineers, marine biologists, astronomers, computer scientists, etc.
We need enthusiastic and upbeat parents (or work colleagues) to present their STEM field to children through hands on activities. Adults will lead a 5-10 minute demo, and then allow for child interaction. If you are interested or know of an eager volunteer, please contact Dr. Deborah DeRosa at stemfestasca@gmail.com.

We are excited to announce an opportunity for our students and their families to come together for an afternoon of fun at Players Indoor Sports Center in Naperville from Noon to 3 pm on Sunday, April 30. Night at the Lab/Meet an Astronaut at Lewis University
The Lewis University Physics and Chemistry Departments will be hosting Night at the Lab / Meet an Astronaut on Monday March 20, 2017. There will be hands-on STEM activities and demos, the opportunity to meet astronaut Dr. Linda Godwin, a presentation by Dr. Godwin, and stargazing (weather permitting). Physical Education Spirit Camp at ASCA
All Saints Catholic Academy is excited to offer an opportunity to continue the fun from PE combined with a touch of grace for K-5 students. Under the instruction of Mr. Justin Busche, students will get the opportunity to enhance their learning of popular sports, fun activities and increased fitness with a focus on a Biblical theme each day. Think of it as one part Vacation Bible School, one part Fitness, one part Sports, and ten parts cool, all mixed in a blender for a week’s worth of FUN!!!

Fish Fry at St. Elizabeth Seton this Friday, March 17
All are welcome to attend St. Elizabeth Seton's Annual Fish Fry on Friday, March 17th. Dinner will be served from 5 pm - 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Children that are 2 years and younger are free. The menu will consist of Beer Battered Cod, French Fries, Cole Slaw, Cheese Pizza, Soda Bread, Beverages and Dessert. The McNulty Irish Dancers will also be on performing. Tickets are available at the door. So, join us for a St. Patrick's evening filled with food, fun and friends!

From the Saints Sidelines . . . Congratulations to our Boys 7B1 team who will be playing in the Semi-finals on Friday, March 17th at 7:00 pm at St. Joan of Arc. Should our team win, the Championship game will be held on Saturday, March 18th, 12:45 pm at Montini Catholic High School. Be sure to come out and share your All Saints spirit as we cheer on our remaining team! Best of luck boys as you continue your playoff journey!
