Melissa Santos is Principal of All Saints Catholic Academy. Mrs. Santos is in her 2nd year at All Saints; and came to ASCA from Michigan where she had been Principal of Guardian Angels Catholic School in Clawson for the last two years. Previous to her time at GA, Mrs. Santos has had a long career as a classroom educator for over 25 years.
Mrs. Santos began her teaching career in 1990 at Talala Elementary School in Park Forest before becoming a Special Education Resource Teacher at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic School in Flossmoor where she remained for 15 years. In that time, she instituted and created a special education program that was adopted by the district and became the benchmark for Catholic Schools in the Vicariate. Eventually becoming an Administrator as Special Education Coordinator, Mrs. Santos taught students, trained teachers and facilitated the latest teaching techniques available to insure differentiated teaching methodologies were being applied so as to help each and every student, regardless of need, to be able to meet their fullest potential in a Catholic academic setting. After her work at IJP, Mrs. Santos then became both a general education and special education teacher in the classroom for Parker Junior High School in Flossmoor School District 161.
Mrs. Santos received her B.A. Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Learning Disabilities from the University in Dayton, Ohio in 1990 and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois in 2005.
Mrs. Santos is married to her husband Andrew and they have four beautiful children – Nicholas and Kailee who are in college, Logan who is in high school and Drew who is in 2nd grade at ASCA. Happy to be able to move back to Illinois where she was born and raised because of her husband’s work, Mrs. Santos has enjoyed her time at ASCA and has noted, “coming back home in itself is wonderful; and the added bonus of being Principal within a Catholic School where I feel the most passion is a true blessing especially when I have the honor of being at a place that has the tremendous reputation that All Saints Catholic Academy
