Chess - Beginner and Intermediate Players

CHESS

Beginners and Intermediate Players

Studies have shown that students who play chess do better in school. Chess has shown to enhance the analytical, critical thinking, and visualization skills. With this in mind, students will be taught the basics of chess playing. This program will teach the students, through lessons that build on each other, to play the game of chess. Benefits from learning chess include an improvement in concentration and memory, enhanced reading and math skills through problem solving, foster logic and critical thinking, and learning that actions have consequences.

 

  • Dates: 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/24 (all Thursdays)
  • Time: 3:30 – 4:30 PM
  • For: Students entering Grades 1 - 8
  • Cost: $40 (4 sessions)

Faith's Law

All Saints follow's Faith's Law, an Illinois law enacted in 2023 to support schools in ensuring the safety of all children while at school. School Accreditation and Recognition

All Saints Catholic Academy is accredited through the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).

WCEA is a nationally recognized accrediting body that evaluates Catholic schools based on academic quality, Catholic identity, leadership, and long-term sustainability. The achievement affirms the Diocese of Joliet’s and All Saints Catholic Academy's continued commitment to excellence in both education and faith formation and formalizes a process for continuous school improvement.


 

All Saints Catholic Academy has received 'Recognition' status from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as a non-public school, and been state recognized since its inception in 2005.  A "recognized school" means that an ISBE appointed team has visited the school to confirm it is following all required laws. The ISBE team looks at school policies, student and staff files, safety records, and other things; a team revisits the school every five years.  Find out more about non-public school recognition at the ISBE site - https://www.isbe.net/nonpublicprograms.

School Year Hours:  7:30 AM - 4 PM.  Our main entrance during the school year is Door 1.

Summer Office Hours:  9am to Noon (Monday through Thursday) June through end of July.  Please come to Door 7 during the summer months.  Please phone first to confirm that the office is open.
