Principal's Newsletter - September 25, 2013

Bishop Robert Morneau is an accomplished theologian who often writes about stewardship. He says, “What is this way of life, this putting God first in all things, this proportionate giving of everything unto the Lord, this refusal to take more than we need? Yesterday I met a flock of them, these stewards, gathered to thank God for his providential love and tell again and again the joy, the peace of giving. It wasn't the words that touched me, rather the quiet assurance that things were ordered, time, talent, treasure aligned with Transcendence, all coming from Love, lived in Love, directed toward Love. What touched me was the rightness of this way of life, this joyful giving, this sacrificial attitude, this sublime joy.”

There really is a joy in the simplicity of it.  I was babysitting my grandchildren this past weekend; and I noticed that when we brought out just a few toys at a time, that the girls were totally engaged.  On other visits to my house, all of the toys would be taken out in a sort of frenzied way, resulting in a big mess followed by a very quick, “I’m bored!”  So now, I am going with the ALDI philosophy…..less choice makes the shopping trip go faster, and less choice makes the toys seem more precious. This does free me up to be more generous and sacrificial.  I am finding that I like the peace that comes with it. God is Good.
