Saints Speak

From Mrs. Santos

September 21, 2016

This morning, Father Bill O’Shea’s homily at mass spoke about our wonderful God who is a God of Second Chances.  Think of a time that you made a bad choice or voiced a hurtful comment.   Have you ever lied or misrepresented the truth?  Have you ever failed at something like Father Bill’s story about his freshman year of seminary?  Reflect on a time that you disappointed someone you love.  Our gracious and forgiving God never turns his back on us.  He is a God of love, and second chances.

For our students who received midterm reports – you have a second chance to make a positive impact on your grade.  Grades are only a snapshot in time.  Believe in yourself, and take advantage of this second chance to do better.

I have been very pleased with our students who have used their second chances from a discipline perspective to check and correct their own behavior.  Students are taking ownership of and responsibility for their actions.  Second chances can transform.  I am seeing the success that second chances have brought to our students.

Saints News

A Grateful Goodbye

This week, we said goodbye to our Director of Development, Tim Traynor.  We are grateful for his many contributions to the school over the past three years, and wish him well as he moves on from ASCA.  As we go forward, we are looking to form a committee of talented school parents who are interested in working on fundraising ideas.  Please contact Mrs. Santos at msantos@ascacademy.org if you are interested in being a part of this team.

Pop Tab Collection for Ronald McDonald House

We will be collecting pop tabs from aluminum cans this year to support the Ronald McDonald House and Edward Hospital. Pop tab donations can be brought in throughout the school year to your student’s classroom.  Last school year ASCA collected 33.7 pounds of tabs.  Let/s try to increase that number this year.  Thank you in advance for your help.
