Next Sunday, as we celebrate the Baptism of our Lord, the Christmas Season will end, and we will return to ordinary time. In reflecting on the periods of ordinary time, we find that, "The rhythm of the liturgical seasons reflect the rhythm of life; after our celebrations of anniversaries and seasons, it is a time of quiet growth and maturing". Christmas was a wonderful time of being with family, enjoying the lights and sounds of the season, and watching my grandchildren brush past the hundreds of dollars of presents to play for hours with the Christmas cards that live in a decorated mailbox by my front door. It seems it is always that way. What is truly lasting are the memories.
As we begin the season of "Ordinary Time" next week, try to let it be that “time of quiet growth and maturing.”
A Huge Thank You
Thank you so much to the families who contributed to the gift for the entire staff for Christmas. SHPP collected funds and purchased gift cards for every staff member in your name. This is an amazing and generous gift to each of us, and we are very grateful. We are blessed to be part of this community. On behalf of the entire staff, thank you.

Marybeth Hicks Returns to All Saints
Marybeth Hicks Returns to All Saints on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in McSherry Hall.
Because it takes a Cool Parent to Raise a GEEK
All are invited to join us at All Saints Catholic Academy to hear Bringing Up GEEKS author, Marybeth Hicks, speak on how to protect our kids’ childhood in a grow-up-too-fast world. Marybeth will talk about how parents can raise Genuine, Enthusiastic, Empowered Kids, and will inspire parents to free themselves and their kids from cultural conditioning while instilling in their children truly important values.
Marybeth last spoke at All Saints in 2011, but has updated her talk to address social media concerns, and will incorporate exercises for parents to get more engaged. So, if you were fortunate to hear Marybeth speak the last time she visited All Saints, know that she will present a new program.
Marybeth is recognized for bringing experience, wit and understanding to universal problems facing families today, and has appeared on many television and radio programs. The Geeks flyer is being sent home today with all oldest and only students.
Christmas Card Collection for St. Jude’s Ranch
ASCA needs your help after the holidays – please send in your Christmas cards instead of throwing them out!! Girl Scout Troop 860 will be collecting Christmas cards for St. Jude’s Ranch. The cards will be used by the children at St. Jude’s Ranch to create new cards. The program is beneficial to everyone – customers receive fun, “green” holiday cards they can feel good sending to their friends and loved ones, and the children at St. Jude’s Ranch receive payment for their work, learn about basic job skills, and the importance of recycling.
Please note only the card front can be used (please check to be sure the back side is clear of any writing, etc.) We cannot accept Hallmark, Disney or American Greeting cards. 5″ x 7″ size or smaller is preferred. St. Jude’s also needs birthday, thank you and all occasion cards so please send those in too! http://www.stjudesranch.org/shop/recycled-card-program/ Send your donated cards into school with your student. There will be a collection box in the office. The collection runs from January 7th-31st. If you any questions, please email Barbara Garitty at bmgaritty@aol.com.
