Saints Speak - January 26, 2017

From Mrs. Santos

Catholic Schools Week, the most fun week of the school year begins this Sunday, January 29 with our Open House at ASCA.  Everyone is invited!!!!  Plan on not only seeing your child's classroom, but take a look around and visit all of our classrooms.  Meet the teachers - they are looking forward to lots of visitors.  We even have a fun scavenger hunt planned.  If you answer all of the scavenger hunt questions correctly, and turn in your completed form before you leave on Sunday, you could potentially earn your Re-Enrollment Fee for the 2017-2018 school year.

We are calling all 9-14 year old boys and girls who enjoy basketball, who like a good competition,or who would just like to try something new to participate in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Champioship at the Open House.  Check in begins at 1 pm.

At the Open House, we also will be extending a very warm welcome to new families who are interested in coming to All Saints for the 2017-2018 school year.  If you have any friends who would like to come to ASCA, PLEASE INVITE THEM TO THE OPEN HOUSE. Most of all, share with them why you love All Saints, and why they will love All Saints too!  You would be the perfect tour guide.  All Saints offers classes for Preschool 3's through Grade 8.

So, let's take a closer look at next week.  Click here to view the Catholic Schools Week 2017 calendar for more details.

On Monday, the theme is Color Wars and we are out of uniform.  Each grade has been assigned a color, so plan your ensemble NOW.  Our 5th grade 'Saints' have worked very hard on their presentations, and will be sharing their stories in full costume with all of us - during the school day and at night, as well.  The pep rally at the end of the day will feature class competitions and lot of fun.   In the evening, our 4th graders have a wonderful musical performance planned.  And that is just Monday!

On Tuesday, we are out of uniform again for Pajama Day!  This includes students and teachers!   Bring your favorite book(s), and be ready to Drop Everything and Read!  A very special person will be coming on the intercom to announce when it is time to read; see if you can recognize their voice.  We are ALL looking forward to the Teacher Swap!  All of the students are wonderfing who will be coming into their homeroom???  We know.......

On Wednesday, we celebrate mass and our faith - together.  We are in uniform; although those students who purchased the CSW t-shirt may wear that shirt over their uniform.  I am so proud of how well so many of our classes have been actively participating in our weekly liturgies. Today, we unite, and celebrate!  In the afternoon, K-8 students will be competing in Academy Spelling Bees.  It is exciting and very, very competitive.  That spells F-U-N!

On Thursday, we are dreaming of Summer Daze, and the warm weather to come.  We are out of uniform in t-shirts, shorts (girls, they have to be finger-tip length - make good appropriate choices), flip flops, sun glasses, and more (who will be wearing a Hawaiian shirt???).  In the morning we experience one of the highlights of the week - the Talent Show.  All classes will be attending!  Your votes will not only crown a winner, but help the children of Hogar del Pobre Orphanage in Mexico. Each vote is $1.  If you would like to cast a vote or two, come prepared.  In the afternoon, we have academy games in the gym.

On Friday, we are jam packed with excitement from day into night.  Students will be in uniform; but, if you purchased the official 2017 ASCA Fun Fair T-shirt, you may wear your shirt with jeans or sweats.  In the afternoon, it is the ever popular Wheel of Wisdom.  The cheers at the 'Wheel' are so loud, that we can hear them all the way down in the school office.  At night, we come together as a school community for the 8th Annual All Saints Catholic Academy Fun Fair.  I hope that everyone is planning on attending.  I will be looking for you!  There is far too much fun to list here, so click here for all of the details, and order your wristbands TODAY!  No more running out of tickets - WOW, what a GREAT IDEA.  No more running out of fun.  Gather all of your friends, and plan your night at All Saints and the Fun Fair.

Let's not forget our Change for Change collection , and Guess the Teachers' Baby Pictures (oh no!?!!!)

I would like to extend a huge and very grateful thank you to the Nirtaut family.  They have donated two Blackhawks tickets that all students and teachers will have an opportunity to win.  If you have been dreaming of seeing Kaner, Tazer, Crow or the Bread Man in person, you might be the lucky winner.  We will draw the winning ticket at the end of the day on Friday.

SAVE THE DATE - Puberty Presentations for Father/Son and Mother/Daughter

The SHPP Faith Formation Committee has invited Dr. Coleen Mast, a leader in the field of chastity education, to offer her popular “Puberty Presentations for Father/Son and Mother/Daughter” to Fifth Grade students and their parents. This event will take place on Thursday, February 23 from 7 -9  pm.  This is an excellent opportunity for 5th grade families to prepare for their mandatory academic and ongoing puberty changes discussions. The talks consist of two simultaneous two hour presentations in two different rooms; the girls led by Dr. Mast, and the boys led by a pro-life man. The presentations will include videos and discussions on how to mature spiritually and emotionally while these physical changes are taking place. The presentation will include some theology and biology of the body, with practical advice for puberty and virtue challenges.

The Mother/Daughter session will be held in McSherry Hall, and the Father/Son presentation will take place in Cafeteria 1. While this is a 5th grade specific program, 4th grade parents are welcome to attend without their children. There is no cost to attend the event, and no food will be offered during these sessions. For more information about Dr. Mast, please visit www.sexrespect.com.    For questions or to RSVP by Thursday, February 16, please contact ascapubertytalk2016@yahoo.com indicating names of parent and student and grade level.

Sponsor and Advertising Opportunities

More than 300 parents and members of Naperville and the surrounding communities are expected to attend our annual Dinner Dance Auction.  Do you own a business, or know someone that owns a business, that could benefit from getting their company name in front of this excellent target market?  It pays to advertise!  Please consider becoming a Sponsor or an Advertiser - it can benefit both your company and our school!  See the Sponsor and Advertising opportunities.

Sponsors and advertisers receive recognition via professional posters and screen displays at the event, an ad in the auction catalog, your name and link to your business on the school website, and your name highlighted in a letter that goes home to school families asking them to patronize our generous supporters.

New this year is an opportunity for year round advertising exposure! As a Blue and Gold Sponsor, at a commitment level of $1,000 or above, your name and logo will be on a professionally made banner that will be hung in the gym all year. The banner will be seen not only by All Saints families attending sporting events, but also families of the visiting schools. The banner will also be seen by anyone who attends other functions, such as Grandparents Day, in the gym throughout the year!

Support All Saints and promote your business at the same time!  The deadline for commitments is  tomorrow, Friday, January 27th. For questions regarding sponsorship or advertising, please contact Michelle Yacullo at yacullo@sbcglobal.net.
