Saints Speak from Mrs. Marshall - 9/25/2025 - Worthy Fruits of the Spirit - Patience and Self-Control
This week we are learning about the holy habit of obedience as we talk about St. James and St. John. Our saint book reminds us that James and John were known to get angry at times, and Jesus called them “sons of thunder.” As parents and as human beings, we all have moments of anger, especially when our children do not obey. We know that they know what to do, our expectations were clear, and yet they didn’t do it!
It’s okay to be angry; it’s a natural emotion that we all experience. What matters most, Jesus reminds us, is how we respond in those moments of anger. Do we let it show, yelling, and as a result telling those who look up to us that yelling is the way to solve problems? Or do we model patience and self-control, firmly but kindly reminding our children of the importance of obedience and how rules help keep them safe? When we learn to manage our anger and respond with love instead, we show our children that they can do the same.
Mass Sign Up
If you’re joining us for Mass tomorrow and didn’t sign up yet, click here. Thank you!
Fun Run
The Fun Run is tomorrow! We are excited to announce that we have surpassed our goal of $60,000! Thank you all for your incredibly generous support of our school. We will celebrate with a schoolwide reward of a movie & popcorn afternoon; date TBD.
For the Run tomorrow, students should wear spirit wear shirts, out of uniform bottoms, and gym shoes. Please remind your child to bring a water bottle to school tomorrow. Parents and family members are invited to join us on the recess pad to share on our saints; run times are below. Parents/visitors will remain outside on the recess pad and will not be allowed inside the school building. If you are attending Mass and then also staying for the Fun Run, please exit Door 1 after Mass and walk around to the recess pad gate.
We have a new class in the top 3 – Miss Beardsley’s 2nd graders (2A) had big donations yesterday, winning a PJ Day for next week and jumping into 1st place temporarily. Last night Mrs. Beardsley’s Kindergartners have stepped back into the lead, but it’ll be a close race to the finish! Keep getting donations so your child can have the opportunity to dunk me next week! Click here for any last-minute donations!

All-School Photo – Wednesday, October 1st
On Wednesday morning we will be taking our all-school photo! All students should be in regular uniform for this. We will do our Spirit Wear Day on THURSDAY next week instead. Out of uniform passes may not be used on Wednesday.
Academic Updates
It’s hard to believe, but we are already approaching the midway point of the first trimester! The children are already learning and growing so much. Next week, teachers in grades K-3 will send home progress reports. Please review these before Parent-Teacher Conferences so you are ready to discuss your child’s progress at the conference. As a reminder, 4th-8th grade parents may view your child’s grades at any time via FACTS Family Portal, so no paper progress reports will be sent home. Eligibility checks for extracurricular activities (volleyball, cross country, football, Student Council, & Fall Musical) will begin on Friday 10/3, so please make sure you are checking your child’s grades and ensuring they complete any missing work.
Student Council
Our 5th grade Student Council representatives have been selected! Congratulations to Aedan Creedon and Piper Elliott, who joined the junior high members of the council this week.
Volleyball Blue Out
Next Friday, October 3rd, is our Blue Out! Come join us in the gym at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm to cheer on our 8th grade volleyball teams in one of their final home games. Any ASCA students in attendance will get an Out of Uniform pass!
If your children are attending Blue Out (or any home games), please remember to monitor their behavior, especially if they are outside the gym. Students should not be playing volleyball near the welcome desk or outside Door 1, as it can cause damage to ASCA property. We love having a full house for our home games but ask that students spend that time in the gym cheering on our teams!
Saintly Acts
Congratulations to the following students, who earned Saintly Acts this week: Liam B. (5th grade), Liam K. (4th grade), Rishan M. (4th grade), Genevieve S. (5th grade), Leyla W. (4th grade), Elsa B. (7th grade), Patrick M. (7th grade), Charlie S. (3rd grade), Ella S. (7th grade), Nico M. (7th grade), Evelyn K. (2nd grade), Mieran S. (3rd grade), Edward H. (2nd grade), Leo M.
